Syma S107 FAQ
Syma S107 FAQ
Here are some questions and answers for the Syma S107-Is this RC mini Helicopter for you.
1: How much should I spend on this type of mini indoor heli?
You should if a beginner spend no more than $50 complete out of the box to fly.
2: Will the Syma S 107 fly out side?
This in my opinion is a indoor helicopter, can not cope with wind at all and is infra-red remote hates sunlight-if you are looking for a outdoor heli this will not be for you.
3: How easy is the Syma S107 to fly for a beginner?
The Syma S107 is a coaxial helicopter with gyro function to be able to hover very easily, is extremely stable and great for a beginner from ages 8 - 80. The remote controls are simple and easy to use. Heli flying advice
4: How much flying time does the battery give you and how long to charge up again.
You get around 8minutes flying time after fully charged: MY TIP: Do not fly the Syma S107 until she falls to the floor with battery drained, best to have 4-5 minute flight, let the bird cool for 15 minutes then recharge- wait for another 5-10 mins then fly again. These tips will keep your battery going for many hours (I have one that is up to 97 hours flying on same battery) Hence I have many Syma S107 so always one ready to fly.Generally takes 20 - 30 minutes using the usb cable supplied on computer to charge your Syma S107 -and a little longer charging from the remote.
5: Can you buy spare parts ok?
Yes you can at realistic prices- you need a small screw driver set - Spares Here
6:Why buy any Syma helicopters?
I feel you should read my review on the Syma S107 to compare with other brands.
7: Where is the best place to buy a Syma S107 from?
From your local hobby store if they stock them: I also recommend Amazon and RcFever
Please be careful buying from Ebay, there are some deals there but check seller out for negative testimonials.
8: What is the Syma S 107 constructed with and how strong is it in crashes?
It has an alloy frame which is light and durable- the blades are flexible plastic and take a lot of bashing, the tail rotor blade can break in a serious crash(comes with spare) The Syma S107 is not a toy and is built to withstand a lot of punishment and because not a plastic toy can be repaired if required very easily- spares are very available as mentioned earlier. You will be amazed at the quality of this heli that other brands charge a $100 for.
9: I have been told there are fake Syma s107 being sold.
Yes this is very true. I have posted on this and what to look for in a fake and clones- Post HERE
10: Can I fly many Syma S107 at the same time?
Yes you can, however follow this advice: For two S107:
Turn on remote A and heli A. Make sure they are binded together.
Turn off remote A, leave heli A on.
Turn on remote B and heli B. Make sure they are binded together.
Turn on remote A.

Can we operate S107 using an app? What is the frequency at which this heli operates so that we can build an android app?
If you are going to build a App for the 107, you will have the problem to try and fly with fpv, better on a quad, flying helis by mobile really is painful, nothing like by remote. let me know how you go
how much can the ‘S107 lift
Nothing really-what are you trying to lift?
Syma 107 problem.
Can’t seem to lift off consistently. (all thrust power seems squished into the very top of the throttle)
I think the throttle needs to be calibrated correctly, but tried the adivce and it doesn’t fix it.
Advice given was… Turn Heli off, Turn remote on with no throttle, then move throttle up to full then back down to no throttle, then turn on helicopter. (this *should* calibrate it, but doesn’t appear to)
I have a solid green light when turning remote on. I get a flashing green light if turning the remote on, when on full throttle.
Pushing throttle up, it spins, up to a speed, but doesn’t seem to get faster, then when I am at full throttle it will intermittantly speed up to a take off speed and climb up.
It is impossible to get it to hover as its as if all the throttle range is squished into the very top of the throttle and even then it seems unpredictable.
It does seem that after a while this fixes itself, but only after I’ve wasted perhaps helf the flight time trying to fix the problem. But when I charge it up again, it’s back to broken.
When it spins fast enough to climb the Helicopter turns slowly counter-clockwise (very small amount) when the heli isn’t spinning fast enough to lift it turns slowly clockwise (very small amount)
It *seems* as if once I have it lifting it will continue to lift until I reduce the throttle, then it will descend (not tested how high/long it will climb for as I don’t have a high enough room). but it won’t always lift again if I push the throttle back up to full, then at some point, within a second or two it seems to speed up and start lifting.
Any help?
I think the controller’s thrust potentiomoeter? might need fixing?
To calibrate the remote you should put the throttle stick to max throttle, than turn on the remote and let the light on remote blink for a secound ot two than just push the throttle handle all the way down and the light on remote should stay solid (not blink anymore). than put the heli on a flat surface, then put the remote behind the heli, and finnaly turn the heli on and wait till the light on the heli stops flashing and that’s it you are ready to go.
Hi,
My instructions for the 107 include something about “Left Hand Manipulate” (p.2). I don’t quite understand what this is for or if you should do it before or after you have turned on the heli. Any insights?
Thanks
Hi,
My son got this helicopter from a kiosk at our local mall that promised to fix it whenever but is, of course, no longer there a few months later. Grrr. Everything seems to work but the lower wings won’t spin. Any ideas?? Thank you!!
Have you had any bad crashes? A lot of people get the same problem buying from a local mall that seem to sell fake Syma helis, much safer to buy from Amazon Please check out our forum for Help
I had the same problem with my son’s S107G. There are two servo motors in the main body of the copter fore and aft of the main rotor shaft. Each servo is about 7mm wide by 12mm tall. The front has a read and a blue wire coming from the top while the rear has a black and a white wire. Each servo has a white plastic pinion gear directly on the shaft protruding down from the servo. These pinion gears are the tallest (2mm) and most narrow of all the gears. Each of them must engage with a flat, much wider gear that has its own narrow gear built onto it. These narrow parts engage the two flat and widest gears– the ones on the main rotor shaft. In our case, the pinion gear under one of the servos had slipped out of position. It needed to be lowered on its shaft so that it would fully engage its dependent gear. To slide the pinion gear on its shaft, use a pocket knife or a tiny flat screwdriver and gently move it along its shaft to line up with its dependent gear. If your problem is the same as ours, here’s your fix! 🙂

Ok so the problem with my heli started with my younger brother, he would fly the heli verticaly, or straight up until it touched the celing, then it would stay and start to spin like water down a drain then it would fall to the ground. After this happed three or four time, the heli would start to spin, like it was in a whool pool or in a twister and moments later it would make a snap sound and hit the ground,(i think it would hit it’s self). Could someone please tell me how to fix this heli, thanks.
This might just be your problem after hitting the ceiling –Video here

Got a problem that no one else comments on. My Syma 107 hovers and trims out perfectly, but when I try to go straight forward it starts spinning like its out of trim. If I try to compensate by turning in the opposite direction it starts spinning the other way. It is just about impossible to fly in a straight direction. I do not have any of the broken parts mentioned by everyone. One thing I’ve also noticed is that it seems to spin to fast if you turn it either direction. I have a larger RC that if you turn left or right, it turns rather slowly which is perfect for flying, but my little Syma spins way too fast even when you barely move the turn lever. Any ideas what is causing this?
Farmerman, I have the EXACT same issues.. Can’t go straight, it spins when pushing forward.. And then when I even bump it a hair left or right the thing spins like crazy.. You ever figure this out?
Thanks
Hi Tom. Did you ever get this fixed? I’m having the same issue. I believe the issue is with one of the circuit board components. Whichever one controls the digital proportion. I’m going to try and find a cheap replacement.
My first 107g would not fly straight. It would trim and hover, but if you tried to go forward or backword it would start spinnig. Tryin to steer it would make it just run in to somerthing. no parts are broken . It did this from the time I took it on it’s first flight. I ordered another one and it flies perfect! I will try to exchange the first one because it is defective for sure. I tried my new comtroller on the bad one and it did the exact same thing so it’s got to be the heli.
At least it wasn’t me. Farmerman
Hey Tom, I never did figure out what was wrong with it. The little pegs that break off inside the top of the main shaft were okay. I have since exchanged that one, bought another, and my daughter got me one for my birthday. They all fly great! So I guess the first one was just defective.
I’ve seen a couple posts about this problem, but no adequate responses. My s107 worked great for a few weeks, but now it only seems to have sufficient lift for about a minute or two after a full charge. After that, it only seems to have enough lift to hover 6 inches off the ground, which it will do for another 7 or 8 minutes. It doesn’t seem to have any balance or wobble problems — just not enough lift. Any ideas?
Your battery is weak. They are not of the highest quality and wear out quickly. Replacement 240mAh 3.7v batteries are available on Amazon for ~$4. You will need a fine tip soldering iron and a steady hand.
Inspect the other solder points while you’re in there and clean up any bad ones. I have 3 of these helos and they all had TERIIBLE solder.
Cheers
So I have had a few flight with my new s107. She is awesome. Problem now is, she tail rotor is operating correctly. When I try and fly fwd, the tail rotor doesn’t spin. If I walk up and flick it with the controller pressed fwd, it will start spinning, but I still don’t get much fwd or backward motion out of the heli anymore. I can hover really well though 🙂 Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks
Hi, i have had this heli for a day now and it randomly started to fly on its own. I checked all the wires and they all are connected just fine. And now it wont even move. Its almost like the controller and heli wont bind with each other. Please help
The controller light is also flashing green if that means anything. I am very knowledged with rc cars and trucks just not heli’s. please help.
I recently purchased the new 2012 S107G in white and gold and absolutely love it. After a dozen or so flights, my heli can no longer stabilize itself in the air. There is no physical damage to the outside of the chopper from what I can tell, but as any other heli, this one has whacked into the wall, floor, and ceiling a few times. Basically the second it gets in the air, the chopper starts to move around in circles. It doesn’t change orientation, it just uncontrollably circles. It looks like the balance bar just sways from side to side, but the weight seems evenly distributed. I’m about to take apart the main shaft and look into the “peg” problem. Any other suggestions?
Update: Took apart the main shaft and found that the smallest possible plastic piece on this copter is snapped off inside the top blade rotating joint. Very upsetting that something this small within the helicopter can break. Agreeing with a previous comment that a metal rotating joint would have been so much better for this design flaw. Looks like I’ll either be hitting up the super glue or buying a new main shaft. 🙁
Supernova put up a video on repairing main shaft-click here
We just got our S107 yesterday. Flew it once and now it wont charge… have checked the battery is connected and looks fine. The USB is not lighting up when connected to the PC. Any ideas?
@Rebecca The usb cable should light up when plugged into computer and go out when plugged into heli, then you wait until usb light glows bright again(red)-If this is not happening after 30 minutes or more suspect faulty usb cable. The cable is not made by Syma company.Next test is to charge heli by remote control.Open compartment turn on remote plug into heli-Let us know outcome
Did as you said and still not charging from the remote control and still nothing.
Sounds like the batterie in the helis came lose.
I read though all the comments and haven’t seen our problem yet… We have a Syma S107. It has been in one crash – straight up into the ceiling. Since then, it consistently tips over to the left when trying to take off, running the blades into the carpet. Based on previous comments, I would imagine we have a bent main shaft. Anything in your experience like this?
Supernova on the forum has just uploaded a video that might be your problem-Click here
dose the tail blade rotate with the motor? cause mine dose not move at all and the helicopter is not stable
My son got a S107G for christmas and it was great. It won’t take off any mOre though. It is charging and the rotors all
spin but no lift at all. Please help.
Check this video on forum, might be your problem-Here
The S107G is great! However, I’m having a problem where the forward/backward control only works some of the time. This isn’t *terrible* since the tail rotor spins enough for a moderate forward motion when the control stick isn’t working. When finally it does start working for about 10-30 seconds, the tail rotor will stop and the heli will hover as expected and I can even make it go forwards/backwards for a bit. So, it’s still fun to fly around but I can’t reliable hover or maneuver for a landing or such.
Any ideas what might be wrong?
Just got this Helicopter for Christmass. When i am flying the heli will randomly stop everything main rotors, and tail rotors and drop out of the air. I think it may have something to do with interference from other electronics (and i have not crashed it during flight) but is there any other reason why this could be happening?
Either that or poor batteries in the remote.
I have to turn off my tv and cable box or the very same thing happens to me.
My son got a S107 for Christmas. It flew ok after the first charge, but now it won’t get off the ground. I read in one post that it could be the battery not charging. When I charge via USB cable, the light stays on. I’ve tried to “wiggle” it and make sure it’s plugged in all the way, but the light stays on the cable. when I charge via the remote the green light just flashes on and off. I think it’s the batteries in the remote aren’t strong enough … I’ve checked the pins on the helicopter to make sure they are not bent… what could I be missing????
Thanks
I’d remove the canopy and check the wires coming off the.batterie. make sure they have not disconnected from the circuit board. Ive fixed one of these b4 and its a quick soder job.
Thanks for the help Jay,
I checked the wires on the battery … everything seems to still be secure … could it be the USB cable?
Possible, I had a new usb cable that was actually split and wouldn’t charge the heli. I just used a different cable. Looks like when I charge with the remote the green light turns red when charging. Hope this helps
Before you replace the battery try to loosen the second set of screws from the top (they hold the upper rotor assembly to the inner shaft. Lift off the upper rotor assembly. There is a groove at the top of the inner shaft. Line up the groove with one of the screws and tigheten both of the screws. Many times the helicopter will not lift off because the upper rotor assembly is not gripping the inner shaft enough to get full lift. I just tried this to mine and it works great now.
I got it working! Turns out the lower sprocket that controls the upper blades was not in line with the motor sprocket and it became stripped on one side. I ordered new sprockets and replaced the worn one, now it’s flying & charging ok… my son was playing with it for quite a while today. Thanks for all the help posts. Also just a note … if the upper blade screw is not in line with the grove, as Brian mentioned, then the shaft drops down a bit and the sprockets don’t line up properly.
Have a S107 that my son got for Christmas….flew it a few times until it needed recharging. The last time, plugged it not USB to recharge when battery was low. After the charger showed it was recharged, the helicopter will not turn on. I flip the on/off switch and nothing. Any advice?? We have only flown it about 10 times.
Check prongs on the charging plug maybe bent and touching.
not the prongs, they are OK……it just will not even turn on.
Out of the box it flew great! Had a light crash with the blades touching the wall and now the upper blade WILL NOT STOP SPINNING! You can turn the remote off, wont stop. You can turn the copter off, it wont stop. When the battery is dead and you plug in the charger, it starts to spin again. PLEASE HELP. Ive owned it for less than 20 minutes and flew it for 2 of them.
Just a guess but maybe some kinda interfearance like TV, lights, sunlight or tv remote.
or maybe a fake with the polaraity reversed. Found this.

Hi,
My Syma S032G just started making a buzzing noise. Also, when it hovers it starts going in circles, not spinning, just the heli itself starts making a circular motion. Is it a bent shaft or something?? I have only had it for a day so am pretty bummed. Thanks
Anyone???
@Mike C not sure what your question was, write a comment again or join forum-ah found your comment on 032g-yes sounds like bent shaft ,also tighten rotor screws-try bending main shaft by hand to the opposite of spin-be gentle
Hey Syma Freak, my question was that i have a S032g and now when it hovers it travels in circular motion then flies out of control. The heli makes a buzzing noise when given throttle. Do u think its a bent inner shaft causing this? Thx in advance
We just got the S107 for Christmas. After a few flights, the top rotor is not spinning. You can lift it right off the main shaft. How is the top rotor supposed to connect and had a firm enough grip that it spins with the main shaft? Suggestions?
Just above the blades are to 2 horizontal screws. If you remove the the top blades and assembly you will see a flat spot on the rotor shaft. Try to line up the flat spot with one of the screws then tighten both.
Worked perfect — thank you very much!
Hi, I just received the 107G for Christmas — was great fun for awhile. Now, I can only get it to lift about 10″ before it does a serious crash & burn — with the blades I think hitting the gyro an each other. It was in a crash prior to the problem. I read on here it may be a bent main shaft? Are these are hard to replace? It does seem to have a little vibration when holding, but I don’t know how much it had to begin with. Any help appreciated!
Two things tighten screws rotors and flybar, depending on crash suspect main shaft bent, try to straighten by hand-is hollow slight hand adjustment will straighten it
Check the small black plastic “pin” in the top rotor. Have seen 2 of these break and cause the same problem. If its broke the top blades will wable alot. Simply buy another main shaft with buckel on top from amazon ($4.95). Instead of replaceing the whole shaft just remove the old top buckle and replace with the new one.
Upon further review, both pins that hold the upper main wings were broken cleanly off. I have ordered a new “inner shaft” and will just replace the shaft head as suggested. Thanks for the replies!
Each of my two kids got the S107 for Christmas (one yellow & one red) from Amazon. On both of them, it says “CH A” on the side so the remote needs to be switched to “A”. They both work great, individually. But, is there any way to make one heli to be “CH B” so they can play with them at the same time without interference? I don’t see any switch that I can access on the helicopter to do this. Any suggestions?
Turn on the radio of the first one channel A,
Turn on the first helly.
Bind the two by pushing the throttle up several times untill the heli reacts.
When they bind Turn OFF the first radio and Not the heli.
Turn the second radio on channel B,
Turn on the second heli.
Bind that one the same way.
Now turn the first radio back On and they should both be on seperate channels.
@Jay Good post and binding info
Yes, this works. Thanks! I read this in the FAQ originally but assumed that it was referring to a heli model that had a “CH A/CH B” switch on the heli as well as the remote. It didn’t occur to me that I could get a heli labeled “CH A” to actually be on Channel B without physically switching something on the heli. I appreciate your response & clarification…thank you!
Your welcome Tami and Thanks Syma Freak, I love these little Symas.
received a s107 for christmas, everything seems to work, but it will not lift off the ground, and suggestions?
Check to make sure your batterie is charging. The light on the usb cord should be On when you plug it in and Off when it is pluged into the heli charging. It sometimes take a little wiggling to get it in on the heli side.
We just got the S107 for Christmas this morning. After a few flights, the top rotor is not spinning. You can lift it right off the main sharft. How is the top otor supposed to connect and had a form enough grip that it spins with the main shaft? Suggestions?
Help!! I got one for my Son for Christmas but we cannot get it to connect. We have tried an iphone 4 and an itouch 4. One time for a second it took off (using the iphone) but only that one time. We have the blue light on the remote and the bird is charged but no matter the channel nothing happens!
um, well, I tried turning it on and off at the same time. That worked. Also you can charge it again for like 5-10 minutes and put new batteries in the controller. You can also keep flicking the on and off button several times. Last but probably the most important, the letter might be wrong.. the little switch at the top has letters. switch it to A, then try to fly. then switch it to B, then try to fly. then switch it to C then try to fly. If all else fails, it is probably broken, or you got a fake one. That and if you have other ones, the controller might be wrong.
Bought the s107g and have flown it and works great. Recently after several crashes after take off it appears as if the helicopter is in a toilet bowl. It will fly in small circles and then eventually the top blad will hit the part just above it. Not sure what is broken on it.
Mine has done the exact same thing. After looking around on the web, it sounds like the balance bar is no longer “balanced” for some reason. I found a good deal on ebay for a new bar and some blades. I’ll update if it fixes it.
I stand corrected. It is the 2 pins that mount the lower blades to the main shaft. The fix is a new main shaft.
Can the battery be swapped out for fresh ones?
Yes replacments are on amazon. You will have cut and soder the wires. An upgrade is available, same volts but more mA. I did this to mine and it makes it more nose heavy and faster but hardly any reverse.
Hi my brother and father both have a s107 great little choppers with a very stable hover.
I got one for myself but out of the box found i could not get it to hover in one place it just go’s sidewaise that makes it very tricky to fly all i can realy get it to do is fly in big circles around the room. any idias whats wrong with it
I have the same problem as Tom G. This is my second S107G to develop the same problem. After a crash it takes of fine but in the hover flies round in unstable little circles. Sometimes the blades crash into each other with horrible results.
Is it the gyro thats gone, the main shaft or what? I can’t keep buying new ones…Ta
I am a beginner copter-flyer and found the S107 on a whim on Overstock.com. I am impressed on this little thing and want to continue practicing with it this winter before buying a larger outdoor one this spring.
Anywho … after about 1/2 dozen flights and a few minor crashes, The copter has developed a wobble when hovering. I am thinking bent inner shaft maybe? Any other possibilities? Thanks in advance.
I`ve crashed mine a few times and replaced the main shaft’s plastic head but it still flies a little in circles and suddenly looses control and flies out of control. Any reccomendations???
yes the main shaft is broken look up main shaft on amazon
Mine won’t respond to the remote at all not even for take offs
Help please
Try and get the helicopter and remote on the same frequency. Its how I got mine to work.
How stupid do you think he is? Are there other potential problems if the frequency matches?
my s107 had a small crash amd now it wont work or charge atall.
it is linking with the controller but when i try throttle the little green light flashes and the heliu just twiches a bit.
help please???
i have replaced the heli and my second one is also not working.
evry time i land slightly badly or have a minor crash the bottom propellor just stops working.
whenever this happens moving the battery around abit makes it go again.
Help plz heli freak
I have a Syma S107 that started crashing at take off. The top blades would hit the lower blades. I found the problem to be that small broken plastic pieces on the head of the inner shaft had broken from impacts. After replacing the head and putting the whole thing back together and charging up, I now find that the helicopter starts to lift off and then banks and crashes. Any ideas on what is causing this to happened? I have noticed that the balance bar on top doesn’t tilt as much as it used to and the bands that attach it to the rest of the assembly were harder to reattach.
the main shaft broke buy it from amazon.
I’ve bought 3 of these little birds in the last 2 weeks (one fake). I have one that on the controler the heli wont spin till you reach about the 1/2 throttle. This make it difficult to fly cuz it want to go to the celing. If you back off abit it cuts out. I tried my boys controller and the heli works Great. Smooth throttle up. Any idea how I can fix my controler? I’ve heard there was an adjustable resistor for the fwd and back but nothing on the throttle.
Thanks
Jay
I have never bought a Syma- so after reading the spiels here decided to buy myself a 107G -however, there seems to be MANY different body lengths- 190, 220, 230 – which one is correct, or are they all correct. Also, in some adds they appear to have flexible blades and fly bar- but others don’t show this, can someone please put me right ??
Hi, I bought a S107 a couple months ago, fly it alot. Recently I took it for a flight and it takes off, but the copter imediately starts to fly out of control and crashes. Fresh charge on the copter and recent batteries in the controller. I noticed the top blades a little nicked up, so I replaced them and it still flys out of control. Like the gyro stopped working or something. I don’t see any physical damage to the copter. Could the main board go bad? It seems to have plenty of power. So weird..
@David I reckon if you have knicked the top blades there is a good chance you have bent the main shaft,or check all wires on pcb board are soldered ok-keep us posted
Well after further troubleshooting, I found the root cause to be two little plastic tabs that connect the main shaft to the upper blades. This plastic piece comes on the end of the main shaft. Can this plastic piece be purchased without buying the whole main shaft? I can see that this is probably the weakest point in the design. Thanks again for your comment.
Most of the time its the main shaft that has had a little breakdown in the third from top. It probably has broken in side where u can’t see it.
I just slowly took mine apart to find the issue… Sam is right. On the black plastic part that is on top of the main shaft the upper blade assembly connects to pegs that come from the shaft. My chopper started doing the same thing. When I took apart the upper blade assembly mount it separates into two L shaped pieces. In those I found two broken pegs from the main shaft. It is unfortunate they made this out of plastic. I wouldn’t doubt this is one of the prone areas for breaking. I have some superglue that has a primer specifically designed for plastics. I painfully glued the small pegs back to the main shaft and the chopper is stable again. I’m guessing I’ll have to replace the shaft eventually. I would of gladly paid the extra 2 or 3 dollars to have that part made out of a light-weight metal.
I just brought mine and it won’t fly more than 2-3 inches off the floor. When I charge it it will go higher in the air for maybe a minute. Then it drops almost right to the floor. I can control it close to the floor for another8 or so mins. What do u think?
Hi, i broke my controller that came with my helicopter, than i bought a new one. it turns on but its not doing anything, like its not controlling my helicopter/ Help please
Try changing the frequency?
I don’t understand how to fly two at the same time. On the remote, the channel switch has A B and C, but the switch only has two settings, left and right in between the labeled letters. I have two s107s and both of them only fly on the right setting. How do you bind one helicopter to one channel and the other to another channel? I don’t see anything on the helicopter to do this.
@Luke this forum post might help- channel frequency
Hi, i just bought a 107-G fom a hobby store. The first two flights were great, but then the rear shaft (the thing with the mini rotor on it) started shaking and vibrating. Also, when i take off, the helicopter starts to move backwards, and strafe to the left. Any ideas?
Thanks, Sam
And also my S107 takes around 1h and 10mins to charge. In the manual, is says it will take 45mins to 50mns, and you say it should take 25-30 mins. Any help?
Thanks
@Sam how you charging by remote? try USB cable-if batteries low on remote takes time-my preference is by USB Cable-let me know
Thanks but ive been using the usb anyway. By the way i love the site! It is what made my decision to buy this ausome heli final! Thanks!
Hi Freak.. just rec’d the 107 and it won’t fly forward. My son held it and we looked for anything loose or broken and it did change motor pitch when asking it to move forward but nothing happens. The tail rotor only activates in side to side or reverse. Should I send it back?
@ RickLI49 Not sure what you mean-like does tail rotor motor work ok when you do forward motion on right of remote control? Should fly out of the box-tell me more!
Hi mine does the same. after 4 great flights. (no crashes) my 107 will not go forward or backward. up/down no probs left/right no probs, just forward/back… the rear blade only spins sometimes then stops.
Same issue here. After a couple of flights, the rear rotor has stopped responding so the helicopter will only rise up and down and rotate.
There does appear to be a few strands of lint around the shaft at the base of the tail rotor, but could this be the issue? I would think this would accumulate at any house. Yes, there were a few crash landings at first, but there does not seem to be any damage.
Great site, I just bought one of these at a garage sale for 10 bucks. It flew for about 1 charge, now the lower rotor doesn’t rotate anymore thus cannot create enough lift for flight. I did crash it into my foot while hovering but I’d crashed it a little harder than that. Any ideas what the problem is?
Much appreciated.
@Nik make sure all lower bar screws tight and bar clamp not cracked or broken-let me know
Hi, just found your great site on the S107 and wish I had found it sooner. After 100 flights on my S107, I noticed that after just a couple of minutes of flying, it would no longer have enough power to fly. After a few more flying sessions, it would didn’t have enough power to fly even though fully charged. I bought a replacement battery and installed it, but it didn’t solve the problem. I bought another S107 and fly it with the same transmitter, and it flies fine. Do you think the lack of power is due to the circuit board on the chopper? Thanks, Dave
@Dave sounds to me like a burnt motor-does it turn left and right ok?
If u use it alot and don’t let it cool down for long enough it may have some problems with the battery.
I have the same problem. I don’t think its a burnt out motor because the motor spins fine and my copter actually still flies for the first 30 seconds or so, then it just drops down to a few inches above the floor for 30 seconds, then it will spin the rotors but not lift off. Seems like there is too little power to get lift, but why? I don’t think it is the battery because I’ve only flown it 5 or 6 times, not enough to deplete the battery unless it came with a defective battery.
I’ve seen this problem several times on here and nobody seems to have a good answer. Not a good sign that a battery change did not fix it for Dave. Any thoughts?
One thing I just found is that if I remove some of the decorative elements like the canopy, it flies much longer because it gets trapped on the ground. Since removing the canopy made it too rear weighted I also removed those little fins at the back and now my copter is pretty bare bones looking but at least it’ll fly for 5 minutes per charge now. Still not sure what’s causing the problem? The gears look/sound fine, there’s no stripping, the gears are catching well etc. Really weird. that there’s not enough lift.
If I decide to keep my copter in bare-bones mode, one thing I could do would be move the battery forward/back to trim and compensate for the lack of a canopy.
Another update – after my light weight mod, the copter still doesn’t really fly for that long before getting confined to the floor. So sad because when it flies it flew SO well!
Just to update this once again, I got a replacement from the manufacturer (Free of charge) and it works perfectly.
