The Syma S107 Review
Syma S107 - My Review
Welcome to My Madness on Indoor RC Helicopters.Especially Syma Helicopters
I started this hobby a few years ago, because I have always been fascinated in aviation. I found it was a fairly cheap hobby to get started in. I was not really wanting to build a model at that time, but to be able to buy a RC heli completed and ready to fly-Welcome the electric RC helicopter, especially the mini helicopters that you can fly at home. Syma helicopters are just the best mini rc heli to start out with.
After buying around 11 RC helicopters, smashing the hell out of them and rebuilding them time again with spare parts, I came across the SYMA S107 also known as Syma S107G.
My Syma S107 Review:
The Syma S107 is a coaxial helicopter, having two main rotors stacked on top of each other.
The picture below shows how these two rotors spin in the opposite direction of each other and thereby cancel out the reactive torque that is produced by each.
Having two rotors also produces a significant gyroscopic effect that further stabilizes the helicopter. This makes this style of helicopter extremely stable and great for a beginner starting in RC Helicopter flying.
The Syma 3 channel S107 mini helicopter comes in a variety of colors, including blue, red, and yellow. However due to being so popular not always able to get the color one wants. I now have a Syma107 in every color-(told you am heli crazy)
Inside the box you get the helicopter itself, sturdy and well made, a infra red remote control with 3 channels built in , so that more than one toy won’t interfere with the other.
Also included is the proprietary USB cable that allows the RC helicopter to be recharged in just around 30 mins or less, when you plug it into a PC. Tip: When usb yellow charge wire pluged into PC will show a red light, check the brightness. When you plug Syma heli to charge light goes out. Fully charged when red light comes up bright as before, faint flickering red light not fully charged so wait. Always wait 10-15 mins between flying before charging to let battery cool down, helps for longer battery life-hard to wait I know!
You can also charge it direct from the remote. The S107 has a built in rechargeable battery. The remote control itself takes 6 AA batteries, so you may need to buy some when giving the Syma as a present to someone else.
It is a Serious Toy for Adults and Kids.
The latest 2010 version by the famous SYMA Toy Company, equipped with a 4-in-1 infra-red receiver (Gyro, ESC, Mixer, Receiver). This palm size S107 Toy Helicopter (18.5cm long) comes with Aluminum Frame and a Great detail canopy, it doesn't look like a toy, but a very serious Helicopter. It is able to move in 3 Direction based on the 3 Channels, anyone can hover it easily. Since it is made with Aluminum Frame, very light weight and almost indestructible in any crash, perfect for very first time beginners. This helicopter is designed for anyone over 8 years old, flight time is around 5-8 minutes after 20-35 minutes charging by USB or Remote. It can fly in 6 directions. They are:
- Rotate Clockwsie / Anti-Clockwise
- Move Forward / Backward
- Move Up / Down
Flexible blades & balance bar-less damage on crashing.

Problems I Found With The Syma S107:
I have to say there were not many-However there are some fakes out there-things to look for is--
1: Correct to have a square type charge outlet on the Syma107 not round-from some forums seems to have a soldering problem. Some fake photos below of rotor fakes.
Fake
Fake Syma 107 Info As Below
The main blade holder of fake S107 is made of metal, the genuine one is plastic in pure black color. The main blade of the genuine Syma S107 have a few lines about the warning. However, the fake one only have the word “WARNING"- Something to check. I do own a clone-It still fly's well: Clones are different to fakes: READ POST
2: Out of the box the SymaS107 should fly with only minor trim alteration which is in the middle of your remote- start to throttle up-when flying and turning to left or right trim using the remote-should be one notch-If the SymaS107 spins like crazy after adjusting trim, something is wrong, do not take it apart -send it back-Hence I only buy from reputable dealers, like Amazon
3: Can be a problem binding the Syma to your remote - is easy to fix tho-Try this- Switch on the transmitter and place next to the S107. Switch on the S107 and stand in front of the transmitter till the flashing green light goes solid. You should now be ready to fly.
4: Because this is a stable heli, your crash rate should be low until you get cocky- good thing is parts are cheap to replace. (Spare Parts Syma S107)
5: Do not fly near digital TV or charge near one- watch out for very bright room lights,to me this is a indoor heli only and can not stand a breeze out side or a bright sunny day as the remote is infra red- If you want a heli to fly outside the SymaS107 in my opinion is not designed to do this - Having said that I do fly mine at night with no breeze on occasions. When flying inside try not to get to close to your ceiling as air turbulence will effect it and lose control-this happens with any indoor helicopter.Turn off fans and do not fly near air conditioners-Pretty obvious really.
6: It takes 20-35 minutes to charge the fitted battery- this can be a pain as you can not wait to fly this little bird more and more- To charge by remote takes longer and soon burns out your AA remote batteries - Use the USB supplied- hell quicker to charge.
7: Another tip: After a flight with any fixed battery helicopter a good idea is to let the battery cool down before you recharge-Reason being it will preserve the battery longer as they do get warm -That is why I have a few Syma helicopters being charged by my USB- So look for good deals to buy two-Only my view.
8: One small issue I had was flying backwards-The heli looses altitude and gets a little bogged down, it does go backwards but real slow. If you are looking for big flying speed backwards this heli might not be for you. I never fly backwards can not see the point prefer forward and spins. There is a modification on tail rotor. Did try it and yes makes a difference but burns up battery power if flying backwards all the time-Syma S107 left as it is to me just great. Want more from your heli buy a bigger more expensive one.
The Great Points:
Where to start: This is without doubt the best little mother heli I have owned-it is so stable. As soon as you stop going forward or back, she just hovers awaiting your next move-problem I found was I just got so cocky flying the bird that I started to dive bomb my dog who eventually won out by jumping from a chair and grabbing it in its mouth -Pain for both-The dog won, hence I bought two more Syma S107.
But from my heart this great helicopter at it's price that you should be able to buy for around $20- $25 shipped is the best value in life, and will give kids from 8 to a old fart like me at 60yrs old the greatest fun ever- I get excited every time this bird is charged and ready to fly- As I have 6 of them now my poor old computer is constantly charging my Syma 107. I am "Excited"
To be really honest I am amazed at the quality of the Syma S 107 for the price. I would have liked to see a better remote not being infra red and a bit more robust, however it does the job, and again for the price one can not really complain. Have seen replacement remotes for $11 should you break yours-not good idea to drop it on concrete floor!
I am working on some modifications with battery. I have one stripped to the bones at the moment as like a kid want to see how it works so well-you need a small screw driver set for this.
Screwdriver Set What I did was rub a magnet on the required screw driver to magnetize it so able to hold the very small screws to the screw driver, helps a lot.
Would I Buy The 107G Syma
100% Yes from me!
WHERE TO BUY THE SYMA S107 WITH SAFETY
Here are my trusted links below that I have personally bought from- I am always trying to find the best value, but also genuine Syma's sold with trust and back up to return if defective in anyway.
For Syma Helicopters:
I have purchased many RC Helicopters and Drones from Amazon - Yes good experience.. Just search on site for Syma, heaps to view.

I had to replace my blades on the S107G and now it flys in a egg shape circle. Do you have any idea on how to fix this issue.
Have you checked if main shaft bent, better still check this video out to repair HERE
The tail rotor stopped working and is it possible that interference from my brothers caused it?
we have a new problem…yesterday my son flew it outside and it crashed into the snow . weve dried it out and it seems to charge, the bliinking lights come on, and the green connection light works normally (shows when aparently connected) but it does not respond to any of the controls on the remote….just sits there…is there any hope? motor doesn’t spin or anything..
Well it depends how wet she got and how quickly you dried her out with say a hairdryer, it could still come back as not salt water, take canopy off and blow dry.
Muchas gracias
Hola! I’ve been reading your site for a long time now and finally got the bravery to go ahead and give you a shout out from Huffman Texas! Just wanted to mention keep up the great job!
Hey welcome, always remember no question is stupid to ask-Also join our forum for free and great help there Syma Forum good to see you here, have fun.
Wow i gotta admit the syma107g has been great until i crashed it a bit too hard. Everything seems to be ok as far as any broken pieces and i don’t see anything bent. It takes off sideways and the rotors clash. Can someone please help
Check out the forum..most problems after a bad crash, help there
@johnny – Check the “connect buckles”, the little “dog bones” connecting the flybar on top to the top blade grips. That not the #1 suspect. -Don
correction – the connect buckles *are* the #1 suspect
Are there supposed to be two connect buckles or just one? My S107G only has one at this point. I was wondering if one fell off or it just came with one. Pictures on the net show some with two and some with one.
Check out Supernova’s video here might help
@Tomo, there are supposed to be two connect buckles and you want them both.
-Don
I bought an S107, it works right, but not left the ground. I think it’s a manufacturing defect. No way? I’m in Brazil
Thanks for your help! #3 fix just stopped my 8 year old from crying and got me a big hug and a thank you!
Hi,
Thanks for the information. I found the article on distinguishing the genuine from fake heli very helpful. The first thing I did when I got hold of the article was to cross check my heli inside and out. I bought 8 as gifts from banggood and they are all genuine. It seems however that spare blades for the green color heli are not easily available.
I have referred to the PDF from the link about and could not understand what it means to “use the rudder trim to adjust”. Is it the same knob that is used for the counter and clockwise rotation of the blades?
Thanks!
I have one of those helicopters and i have a problem when you put your thumb on the up & down trigger it wants to go up a little bit then fly to the left without putting the other thumb or fingers on the other buttons to move the trigger buttons, is my fins bad and my balence bar bad , is my shaft bent . what is some ideas cause i dont want to replace parts on the helicopter unless i really have too.
Hi Syma Freak
I have problems with my helicopter i was just wondering if i can get some ideas from ya on whay i can do to solve them to get the helicopter to get back up and fly in the air because i Put all new parts in it and now it wont fly it will just sit there for a few seconds & then if you hit the up rudder it wont go up it will just sit there and then fly to the left
what is some ideas to have it fixed up to have it fly up ward not to the left.
Check some of the posts below, one thing to check is that you have the right shaped blades in the right places there are two different blades one type for the upper and another for the lower. I took all the blades off mine without taking note and ended up with one of each on each rotor result was it woild not flie, just sat there.

I have just got a Syma s107G. It was OK for first week, now it will hover but i cant stop it spinning even with trim. If i try to turn one way it spins like crazy but turns slower the other way. The blades seem OK and it will hover.
If you look at comments below and on forum suspect bent main shaft
Hi Syma i have now replaced the inner and outer shafts and the balance bar and mounting. When i had it striped down i had a good look at thr motors and the one that controls the bottom rotor seems noisey. i have ordered motors and will keep you update. It makes sense that if the rotors are not spinning at the right speeds the heli will spin on its axis instead of hovering in a stationary possition
Hi Syma, problem sorted the motor with red and blue wires was slow, ordered motor set from amazon fitted motor and now flies OK. The solder conections were a pain you need 3 hands but all is well.
Well done-The soldering is a fiddle, but one gets better with practise
Hi, any recommendations on where to purchase new gold/white trim blades for the S107g?
My web search has come up with nothing so far for that colour
@Acapulco,
Different color blades work fine. I’ve tried all kinds of combinations and never had a problem. Mismatched blades don’t look too bad as a rule, either.
I used to always use matching blades too; until one day I realized that it really didn’t matter.
It’s even useful for telling one heli from another when you have several.

Hy there, got one of those nifty helicopters for christmas from my girlfriends parents. Become pretty good at it and am impressed on how well it handles in general. One thing tho I don’t fully understand and it also does not say anything in the manual…On the bottom of the camera there are 2 lights, a blue one that’s on constantly and a red one that’s supposed to indicate whenever I take a picture or it’s recording a video. In the beginning this worked flawless but since like a week I have noticed that the red led flashes constantly…
Already deleted all the vids and pics and tried disconnecting the camera and reconnected it again…no luck, still flashing. Can’t find any information in the manual on this topic..
Does anyone know what this flashing red light means?
Thank you for your help, it is much appreciated.
Anton
You might want to have a look on the forum thread about the Syma S107C here, some good advice
My copter will fly when the remote is close. Once it gets up a few feet, the remote wont work and blades stop spinning. If i hold remote right under copter, I can control it. Once it gets 3 feet away, the blades stop spinning. How can i fix this
Stay away from digital TV and bright lights–are all batteries in remote good?
Hi,
I have been flying my s107g for a few weeks now and have to decided to buy another one, but I fitted new batteries to controller and noticed it doesn’t turn on (no LED on) I thought I’ll just send it back to amazon. I then went to fly my original 107 and its controller is now not switching on!!
🙁 I fitted new batteries but still no luck. Any help is much appreciated. Thanks
The green LED on the back of my s107c isn’t lighting up. The one on the back of the fuselage, not the one inside. Can’t find any direct contact to SYMA, any suggestions?
@Bob C. If the blinking light on the front is coming on but the green light isn’t, then the IR receiver is dead. You could take it apart and look for obvious problems on the IC board (something causing a short, etc.) Outside of that, I think you’re hosed. The green light comes on along with the nose light even with the transmitter off.
Do you have any experience buying directly from symahelicoptors.com? It appears to be the manufacturer, and they have some items that do not appear in your store.
Got one for my son for Christmas. Second day of use the blue wire on the motor for the lower blades broke off. Is this fixable? Do you know who I could contact regarding warranty?
Is there any wire left from the motor?or has it come off mother board
It can be repaired..did you buy from Amazon? they have a good return policy providing the heli has not been damaged in crashes
Just got a S107G for Christmas, flys great but now I have noticed that it flys forward on its own without using the remote to move it. I’ll bring it up in the air and when it gets high enough it moves forward, I constantly have to keep spinning it around in order to not crash in to the walls.
What could be the problem with mine?
Maybe a bent shaft,or battery moved altering centre of balance.tighten rotor screws but be gentle
Ok I will check the battery and the shaft… I will look at the video to see how to replace it and check it… thanks SymaFreak
Is the tail rotor motor constantly spinning?
No it’s not, I just realized that sometimes when I move forward the tail rotor wont spin and I won’t go anywhere, I have to land it and then start all over again to kind of reset it. That really only happens when I have been using it for awhile and the battery is running low.
I got a world tech toys phantom s107(knockoff of the syma) for Christmas and I’m having a lot of fun flying around the house. Today it started flying erratically and wasn’t stable. I figure it had to be something with the gyro at the top. What I found out was the top blade assembly where the two little knuckles that keep the top blades from wiggling around were sheared off. Will the syma replacement parts work for my knock-off? Do I need the entire main shaft assembly or do they just sell that top part? I apologize for all the questions. This is my first RC heli. Any help would be greatly apprecitated.
Thanks in advance!
I just got a s107g helicopter for Xmas and it is 100% real (used your guide above). My problem is the the helicopter does not seem to be receiving constant power? The blades will spin than stop and start constantly over and over. Any ideas on what I can do to fix this problem? Both helicopter and remote are fully charged, remote has brand new batteries?
Try holding the heli-then throttle up and see if the light on remote flickers or goes out, trying to determine if bad battery connections in remote-Also do not fly near any digital tv or near sun ray as infra red remote.
It does not flicker. I did move to a room with no tvs or anything and it does the same. I also just made sure everything was fully charged. I could make a video of what’s happening. Thanks for helping me try to fix this.
Oh I did also open up the battery compartment and it looks ok, not swollen or anything. Just not sure what else I can do. It seems to be receiving a constant feed from the remote.
I’ve been flying my 107 for about a week, and it’s been great. Today it crashed, and now the top rotor gets out of balance easily, and also tends to wobble and get caught up in the bottom rotor. I see other replies where you mention a video, but I can’t seem to find the right video. Can you help?
Thank you!

I’ve already been to that page, but unless I’m missing something, none of those titles address my issue. Does one of those links cover the wobbling top rotor?
@David,
Try http://syma107.com/forum/general-syma-s107-information/blades-colliding/ and Find “sheared” in the web page. Take the top rotor assembly apart and check. The spare part includes a rotor assembly and shaft. Here’s how you replace it:

I just got a blue syma ( it is legitimate i read the article) and I took all the steps and set it so that the tail rotor was facing me made sure it was fully charged with the usb. I then switched the controller on and did the full throttle back to zero thing. After that I proceeded to turn on the helicopter. It lifted off then once it got 3 feet away it fell out of the sky. The same thing happens if I try to turn it to face me or go parallel to me. Not flying near any TVs or bright lights.
Anything digital will effect infra red remote- try flying in a different room-also as Christmas lights on a Christmas tree can also create flying problems- check out our forum for more help http://syma107.com/forum
Hi there,
Kinda new to this mini RC helo thing. Always wanted to fly the real deal but never had
the time to learn. Got this S107 the other day and it’s great. Learned how to fly the
thing in less than a few hours of banging the walls, the chair, my ceiling…but now can hover and fly around the room pretty well.
Charging the thing with the included remote wire is handy, but after about 6 times of
recharging the helo the batteries wouldn’t do it any more but was still okay for running the remote. Charging the helo with the pc was okay but a pain because you need
to have your laptop or desktop on. What I suggest and did, was use an old powered (the kind with the wall wart) USB 1.0 ver. four port hub that I had, to stick the USB charging cord(s) into to recharge up to four helos at one time. That way you don’t tie up one of ports or your pc to charge up your helo(s).
Chopper on dudes.
That is a niffty idea-let us know how long your battery last recharging that way
I charge mine with the USB cord plugged into a USB wall charger that’s plugged into a one-hour outlet timer. This way I never over-charge the battery.
I bought two of the S107G’s from E-Bay from two different sellers and both had non working tail rotors. Am I doing somthing wrong, or just luck of the draw?
Long time ago I bought 3 Syma helis from Ebay, all were fakes and never flew right, hence on first page on this site warned people of Ebay sellers,do not feel you are doing anything wrong, just check if tail rotor spinning on shaft and might need pushing down further, might fix them, let us know.
My 8 yr old son loves this heli and it flew and hovered just fine until last week when I crashed it a couple of times. Now it hovers but it’s hard to keep the heli from rotating even when I use the trim on the remote control it still rotates while hovering and when I turn left or right it just spins out of control. Is there a way to fix the rotating while hovering and the crazy spinning when I turn left/right?
Spin upper propeller and look inside the helicopter does it spin the motor. Now spin lower propeller and also look. You can also hold helicopter while pushing full throttle and see does upper or lower propeller spin slower.
This souds like mine, on motor was running slower so i replaced it flies ok now.
i got the s107 a week ago and have had tons of fun with it. until yesterday i crashed it like i had done dozens of times. nothing is broken that i can see but the top blade with the gyroscope is off. like it goes off balance very easy i cant fly it anymore cause it instantly loses control? have you ever had this problem? how can i fix it?
Hi Jonathan- check out our help videos on the forum-Here should help you -let us know
@Jonathan, check the two little “bones” (connector buckles) which attach to the flybar (what you call the gyroscope). Make sure they are both attached, but wiggle freely.
Good advice as always Don!!
I’m from Germany, can i get them over here?
Yes of course you can–view all links offered here recommended where to buy
I just got my 1st Syma (s107) and being a newbie i hope what seems like a silly question gets a simple answer. I’ve only flown a handful of cheap Airhog’s to this point and they’ve been put together TOTALLY different. My Syma’s main blades came out of the box loose. All other mini heli’s i’ve been around had more basic – stiff blades. i tested the syma and it has flown straight & true. Am i supposed to tighten them? Will either way effect preformance & flight? Appreciate any input. Thank You
Hi all,
Im a manufacturer and i have some ideas of new accesorries for the syma helicopters, but i would like to hear from you what you think would be a hit item to manufacture and it should get picked up really good?
Please put your input so i should know what you think.
Thank you
I think your question would be better answered on the forum..bearing in mind we do not let people advertise their products on this site without contacting the Admin Manager. There are a lot of great members on the forum that will give you some ideas of what they might want made-Click here to join
i think the only improvements would be flight time: recharge time
and robustness,
is their anyway i can get a user manual for syma s107 in french?
@Yossi Non, mais, il est inutile de toute façon. -Don
Hi,
Having a problem with lift. The battery is fully charged but will not lift off the ground. Can you help with any suggestions?
Thanks
Try to launch it from your hand not from the ground if flies ok the problem is your skills if not the battery is dead. There is no other cause the problem.i have 4 different Syma copters no problem at all.Remember for batteries long life you should stay to cool them at list 20 minutes before re charge it .good luck
I was just reading online about s107’s not taking off in an Amazon review. It said to leave the power on the heli off, turn on the remote, got to full throttle, go to min throttle, then turn on the the heli.
@Red,always turn remote on first then heli and wait a few seconds to bind..have never had to move throttle sticks to bind and have heaps of Symas, must admit first ever heard of that..thanks for the post-SF
@Richie. For most helis, you want the transmitter on first. So that’s a good habit. But for S107’s, it doesn’t matter. I’ve got to disagree with Syma Freak (a rate occurrence) about the throttle. *Lot’s* of times I’ve had to move the throttle forward and back after the heli binded before it would respond. Be prepared to back off it quickly. That’s also happened with my 2.8Ghz spread-spectrum radio helis! Now, what we’re talking about here is no response from the heli at all, dead. If you’re getting a response but it won’t lift off, that’s something else. If you really want help you might put more than two quick sentences into describing the problem. -Don
Don,I thought about what you said about rate occurrence on the throttle and agree you are correct..as fly quads with a Spektrum remote and have to arm them by moving throttle and right aileron control..Just that I have never had to do that with a Syma..I stand corrected and appreciate your advice.Thank you
Just to add to my last comment..I was soldering a camera 12v up to a 5.8 receiver for fpv..to cut a long story short I did it wrong and never took on board other advice, hence cooked a $69 transmitter..lesson was well learn’t that in this hobby of rc one is always learning and any advice from others especially better experts than me is worth gold..so guys reading comments from Don,me and others consider all knowledge posted..Thank you all for posting help advice.
I have a problem with my 107 and am looking for help. Whilst flying the heli, it suddenly stopped mid flight (and naturally crashed). This occurred at the same time as a message arrived on my mobile. The heli was charged and flying at about 6ft. I have connected it to the USB, the light remains red indicating it is charged – the heli was flying for about three minutes so I would have expected the charger light to extinguish. My 107g still flies using the same remote – so it is not the remote. The heli is less than a week old and has less than 15 minutes flying time. All charging times have been properly observed – waiting at least 15 minutes before and after charging (I wrecked my 107g charger using a direct electric socket charger – so I am now observing the proper protocols). The stop was incredibly sudden. It just does not respond. There is a small flashing green led at the rear of the frame and the front lights work as normal when switched on. I am thinking it may have been interference that brought it down. It still bonds with the controller. Help, I am at my wits end 🙂
@Keith How can you tell that it’s binding to the controller if it doesn’t respond at all? On my S107s, the flashing green light will go solid after a while whether it binds or not. It will go out sooner if it binds though. So if you notice a time difference between whan the green light quits blinking with and without the remote turned on, that might tell you something. Also try channel A and channel C just for the heck of it. It sounds like the IR went out on the heli. If it can power the lights, the battery is hooked to the circuit board. You have three motors not responding. I’ve never had interference affect the heli later on. A 6′ fall is usually no big deal unless it lands upside down; and that just results in a bent shaft. The IR going out would do exactly what you describe. But I can’t ever remember hearing about that happening before. I doubt that your mobile broke the heli. 🙂 -Don
Thanks Don.
The green light on the hand held remote flashes as does the green light at the rear of the 107. After a few seconds the hand held light becomes steady and the rear of the 107 becomes steady – I am assuming they are bonding. I repeat the process with the 107g and everything is fine and working on the 107g. Moving the rotor controller makes the light at the rear of the 107 flash, but no rotor movement. The same process on the 107g sees a steady green light at the rear and the rotors move. I only have channels A and B on my remote (which came with the 107). I have purchased some new transmitters (after frying my first one), I shall test it with those, once they are charged – who knows, it may work. If the IR has gone on the copter, what is my best course of action. I am also concerned that it may be fake after reading comments on here – it certainly came with all the correct looking box etc, but the lack of a C channel and the fact that the circuit board is not red concerns me.
@Keith I think all of the helis I’ve ever had are S107g’s. They have S107 printed on the canopy, but they all have gyros. There are a lot of strange things about yours (1) ciruit board and no C channel, as you point out (2) The behavior of the remote light and green light on the back of the heli does not match mine. (3) when you say “makes the light at the rear flash”, are you talking about the green light on the rear of the circuit board? That’s the only “light at the rear” I’ve ever seen. I would bet that you have some kind of fake there. I’ve bought something like 2 dozen of these things (A dozen for friends and a dozen for me) and have not run into any of the things you describe.
@Don. I think I may be mixing up bands with channels. It has two bands A and B – just in case you want to fly two copters and have two controllers. The channels control the movement – up/down, right/left and forward/backward. My 107 does not respond on any channel or on any band. I have now tested with a second IR controller with the same end result.
@Keith, Every S107 I’ve ever bought (12 dozen at least over years, from different suppliers) came with a controller marked with bands A B C. But the switch is two way! So the two bands are usually referred to as A and C simply because those are the letters above the two working switch positions. If it’s stamped A B C and you’re just calling the two positions A B, fine. But if the label for the band switch says A B (no C), that’s unusual. Are you in the US? If so, I suggest you buy a good new heli for $16.75 from Amazon. Search for “Syma S017G Yellow”, click the “63 new” link, and get it from the Battery Superstore vendor. Then you’ll have a real S017 for reference. You either have a fake or some weird lemon. The deal with these Symas is that you want to have at least a few of them anyway. I got into them a lot. I’m more into 4-channel helis these days. But I still keep at least 4 working. I have a big box of mini-tools, fine soldering iron, extra parts,a little graveyard of stripped helis, etc. All of my working S107s are converted to external lipo batteries that work with a Celectra charger because I got tired of constantly soldering in new batteries. Lipo batteries wear out. Soldered in lipos are ridiculous, but hey, you’re getting a lot for $16.75! I’ve completely stripped and rebuild Symas dozens of times. You don’t necessarily need to go that far. But you can’t get away from working on them. And troubleshooting is a bear without having working examples around to compare against. That’s why I say have at least a few. That and so you can fly more without waiting. If you’re pretty sure you’re going to like the little things, order 3-4. That’s still 1/2 the price of a single hobby-grade heli like a Blade MCX2. Even a lot of people with better helis like to kick around with the S107s sometimes.
hi um i just wanted to tell u that its keep on moving to the side even when i throttle the minimum
Hi, as many may have clocked from revious posts, my heli is great, looks genuine however ive just read that fakes often have a bunch oh jumbled up wires like mine and that the motor cover are black and whiite mine arent. and the tips of my landing gear are black not white. whats going on, normally id dismiss this as the product works well however on its fifteenth flight after a few crashes and parts of the landing gear are snapping and the tail rotors stopped working (FYI it didn’t just stop it started slowing dawn and now its a gonner) whats happening?? and should i buy replacements or just a new heli (my budget is about £15, yes i know its small but im only a kid, take pity!!) plz give your feed back, ta!
Hi…
Please help and reply..
I had a s107g rc heli.
Bought long time ago. 1 year plus.
I played last year with no issue.
Just gotten the urge to play today.
Heli charged via usb.
Bought 6 brand new aa batt. But realise the led light on the remote not lighted at all.
I cant control anything. Heli side is turn on with working led.
Is my remote controller spoil?
Appreciate solutions. Thank you
Your problem sounds like because you have not charged the heli for a long time the lipo battery in heli has maybe discharged itself so will not take a charge, sounds that you will need to get a new battery
Hi…
The issue is not with the heli..
Is on the transmitter.
No light on the transmitter after new set of AAs.
Heli charged and led on the heli is working as well.
Is the remote transmitter spoil?
I just got my 1st s107. After putting my batteries into the controller, i noticed no light after turning it on. Solution = just had to take an extra couple seconds before lighting up. i checked the batteries several times before walking away for a minute. once a came back and turned it on again, it worked and continues to work. Hope i helped
LS 107 model helicopterim var fakat ucmuyor, ne yapmam gerekir.bu konuda yardımlarınızı bekliyorum
Hi I ordered a syma s107g from ebay today. Red color which looks really cool. After recieving it How can i tell if it is a genuine Syma heli?? What sort of things should i look out for?? Ive seen these same 107g helis on shopping channels But those heli had flahing leds on the side of the heli aswell as the usual front flashing led. I tried looking every were For them but no avail. Anyway i guess its a 50/50 chance of recieving a good working heli, fingers crossd this is my first rc heli. How long can these helis really last if they are looked aftered? The heli i orderd said it has “built in battery protection” is that an advantage or do all s107g have that? This is the only reason i bought it from that seller lol please clear up these things few things for me. Many thanks. Sid
It will have a red circuit board if it is real.
With regards to the circuit board colour. All four of my brand spanking new S107G ‘Limited’ edition copters have a tan coloured circuit board. They are definately NOT fakes or clones. So it looks like the old red circuit board standard is no longer applicable! also…. there is no spring on the throttle stick any more. I guess Syma reads the boards!!! I can trim her up, and set the transmitter down and she just sits there and hovers.
Oh, my limited edition yellow ones have new graphics more in line with her bigger brothers, with a white component to the top of the canopy. pics to follow on thisn site (once I get some taken!)
Hello,
When i turm on the switch on the helicopter (S107G), the main blade and the balance bar keeps turning. Even when the battery is empty and i connect it to my pc for charging, the blades starts spinning……
When charging by usb turn Syma heli off power. When binding turn remote on first, make sure you are not pushing throttle up,wait a few seconds to bind then push up throttle..where did you buy from?
Hello,
I bought it yesterday in store in Belgium. Seens to be a genuine one (i took a look at the pictures).
I switched it OFF, but when i connected my to USB, it starts spinning (upper-blades and balance bar).
It seems when the battery gets a little power the blades starts spinning automatically……:-s
Great Heli. I got one for my son and wound up buying one for myself. Ha. My son’s suddenly started flying very eratic. like it wants to tip over on take off. It make may make it into the air then suddenly tip over in mid air and crash. The tail fin has a crack in it and the counter balance bar (for lack of a technical term)above the rotors was bent. Im not sure if this happened after it crashed or crashed because of the problem. very strange. Any thoughts?
A point as infra red remote do not fly near a digital TV..Sounds like you might have bent main shaft, view our forum – VIDEO HELP
so i got my S107 and worked fine the first few minuets now it wont even go in the air wat should i do
More information, have you crashed the Syma?
No I have not
Have you charged the Syma via usb from computer? Are the props turning at all?Try turning on remote first then heli and wait to bind together. It is hard to work out your problem with the small amount of information you have posted.
It spins around on the ground and won’t go up
There are a few things that could cause this..I know well a first flight ends hitting a wall or table etc,one thinks there is no damage, however a beginner does not shut off the throttle, what happens then is the main shaft might get bent giving (tbe) Toilet bowl effect and props hit each other-try first to tighten all prop screws,do it in a delicate way with correct screwdriver, let me know after doing that..
Have you looked at our forum? all problems explained with some videos
Tried Dales Battery Mod on this website and really like it. It requires that you’re comfortable with soldering and taking the heli’s apart. And it works best if you have a Celectra charger or similar with several 3.7V 150 or 160 mAH lipo batteries. But it’s great for somebody that has gotten into little helis and moved up to something like a Blade MCX2 (highly recommended!) but still likes to fly Syma 107s around the house (like me.) Lipo batteries have a limited life. That’s just how they are. And soldering in new batteries gets very old. The only minor hassle is that when you crash the batteries get crooked on the velcro, or even come off completely (and I crash a lot because I like to do things like land on the overhead fan blades with the fan turned off). So use stiff velcro. I used parkzone PKZ1039 because it was just the right size. But I’ll probably replace it with something heavier duty. I suppose too heavy duty and I’d be peeling the aluminum covers off the lipos. Still, I usually keep 4 S107s “airworthy” and it’s nice to fly any of them any time as much as I want to (letting the motors cool of course.) And I can use the same batteries for my MCX2s and S107s (and one I get a little more skilled on 4-channel, with my Blade MSR.
Thanks Don,good tip on the velcro!
my heli wants to alway fall over on take off any help
I’m new to the heli too but have noticed this as well. It’s very subtle though and found that it only occurs in the following circumstance.
When I advance the left control stick VERY slowly till the heli is just about to lift off, this is when I see it lift off and slightly wobble and drift one way or the other. Again , if I keep the speed here there is no joy but if you give it just a bit more speed it will rise slightly and smooth out like normal.
At that point I can reduce the speed and bring it back down where it was just an inch off the surface but now with full stability.
What I’m describing here is all in inches/centimeters or very very small amounts of movement of the heli,
I’m guessing the drift and slight unstableness at that one millisecond is due to the threshold of the blades and counterweight coming up to speed.
I have not found it to be a problem as I rarely lift off in that fashion.
I hope this helps in some way, as I said I’m new to the 107 too but have spent many hours playing.
Stew
Thanks Stew for your comment, looks like you are really cranking the Syma 107,good on you.
I just got this little heli for fathers day. It’s a blast. Not totally easy to fly, but not hard either.
Ron,great present for Fathers day, your family has created a new hobby for you-lol
I’ve had one for about a year, and today I charged it a bit too long using a USB adapter and a wall plug instead of a computer. Now when I use the the throttle, the blades spin for a second before the power cuts out and it turns off. I have to put the switch back to off and then on to turn it on again.
How often in the year have you flown the Syma Helicopter? Reason being if battery left for a long time without a charge it might not be able to hold a charge anymore.
I just got me a syma 107 helicopter the other day. I ran it off and on for a couple of days, a couple of minutes at a time. It would not do anything the other day, so I charged it with the remote until the light turned green on remote. I tried it again and nothing. The light on the heli is solid green, and it is solid green on the remote. I can get it to work if I hold the remote up to the rear of the heli, but once I move the remote away, or let go of the heli, it quits working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Have you tried charging with usb cable supplied. Also try changing batteries in remote to new ones.Charging heli with usb cable saves the battery in remote.
I already tried charging with usb cable until red light came on. I have brand new batteries in remote, but switched them out anyway. Still same problem. Nothing happens unless I hold the heli over the front of the remote.
Trying to find your problem, have you dropped the remote at any time? Also could be caused by a bad crash and maybe a bad connection on mother board, take off canopy and check soldering joints or loose wires.
Never dropped the remote. Removed canopy and all wires are still intact. I can get it to work fine if I hold the heli over the remote. I can make it go forward and backward, turn, everything, but it has to be right above the remote. I can fly it that way, it is just really hard to keep it hovering on top of the remote like that. Once it gets about 6 inches away it cuts off. I am trying to charge it again. Would my wireless router have any affect on it? I had it on when I first got it and it worked fine then. I might try turning off my router and see it that helps.
@Jeremy Try using another remote. With these helis, you really want to have at least 2-3 of them. Otherwise, it’s hard to troubleshoot anything. And the first time you customize and tune a remote (see elsewhere on this site) it’s nice to have a spare in case you wreck the spring or whatever. Sounds like either the IR is broken on either the remote or heli. Another possibility is that there is lots of IR where you are trying to fly. You can eliminate that by trying it in different places.
Yeah, I will not be buying any more of these. There should be no reason to have 3 of these just so you can fly 1. Junk. Thanks anyway for the advice.
Sorry to hear you have had a bad experience.anything we can do to help you repair your 3 helis that all seem to have gone wrong without any crashes.Let us know.
Just got a 107 for my birthday (today) and have fallen in love with the heli. I used to fly large RC planes and have been away from the hobby for many years and forgot the joy and just how much fun it can be. The build quality of these are incredible considering just how inexpensive they are. I plan on buying a few more. I recieved the external charger for mine and it keeps my USB ports free and the built in led indicator for telling if the 107 is charged is great. I would mention the heli and charger as well as a basic parts kit was purchased from Syma Store on Amazon.
What a great gift!
Stew: Great you are having fun with your Syma S107-do not forget to check out our forumThank you for your comment here.
Stew-Thank you for purchasing through this blog on the Syma Store Amazon It really helps us pay for the forum and hosting. So happy you are getting some great flying fun!!
I bought one of these from 7-11 strictly on impulse. Must say I’m very, very impressed with the quality for the price. I paid a good deal more for one that didn’t last but a few flights. It flies very well and has survived several short drops and run-ins with furniture without damage. I am a little disappointed as I find it unusable outside, either day or night. But, I am perfectly happy with it otherwise and considering buying another one (starting my own collection!) Thanks for the great site here! Mike P.
