i bought syma s107g black series from amazon, looks fake and heli wont fly even i apply full throttle. complete waste product, my original yellow syma still flies well, only have to change a blade.
Have you contacted Amazon about it?
This is my first experience with a indoor heli like the SYMA-107C infra red controlled heli which I purchased from X-HELI.com. I received my heli in a container that is different from the pics noted on the web site commentary. But I am not sure if this is genuine or cloned! My first flight flew fine and after charging once the heli will fly and suddenly seems to loose power, naturally drops like a rock since no auto rotation is available, bottom line though if you receive a good flying heli no matter the type of box “HAPPY FLYING”,after all were talking thirty to forty dollars max cost with replacement parts being very nominal.I fly large helis 550 & 700 size helis where our parts cost can exceed hundreds of dollars. Closing comments: I am working with X-HELI trying to resolve my power issues, and enjoy my new toys.
It’s not ridiculous to say there are fakes being sold like crazy from Amazon. Stories abound of customers contacting Syma and finding out that their ‘Syma’ isn’t a Syma. (Btw, folks, those links here don’t go to the ‘authorized’ dealers.) If you think no one would build fakes, you know nothing about manufacturing in Asia! Silly indeed. And Amazon is rolling in dough because of this, making customers think that if they were to buy directly from Syma that these helis would be $100+…Amazon is scamming people and made a lot of kids unhappy this Christmas.
I feel you are being a bit unfair on Amazon,if you have bought a dud heli from them return it-that is the good thing about Amazon..I have bought heaps of helis from Amazon all been ok.You stand a much bigger problem buying from Ebay, that I know, bought 3 Syma helis none worked out of the box-Also on our forum there is a section called “Stop thief” here people post on where they bought, good and bad experiences. So you are saying you bought from Amazon the heli was a dud and you could not return it?
Can we put together a “Fake vs. Real” list for the S800G?
The picture of the “genuine” and “fake” boxes above is ridiculous, the two boxes are identical except for how the plastic covers the aperture. That picture does not help anyone…
I also received a fake red s107G sold by planet stuff and fulfilled by amazon.
box looks like the picture of the fake
red flashing led on circuit board
circuit board does not say anything on it (no “S107”, etc.)
motor tops are green and black (though wire colors looks right).
Tx also looks like the fake in the pictures (battery terminal, etc.)
USB charger light does turn on once charged but stays on (i.e., doesn’t go out when fully charged). Is it supposed to do that?
USB light should go out when charging and light come back on when fully charged
Planet Stuff is a fake… return it and get it frum RC Toy village or from Superstition Hobbies. Those are authorized
Just today, I took delivery of a fake S107G in “Red”. I bought it on Amazon, and it was sold by a company called “Planet Stuff”. A few discrepancies that I noted; Box was smaller, and there was no styrofoam packing inside, Main blades improperly marked, Inside controller batt. comp. slider/keepers are black instead of white, Motor end colors wrong. But the most marked difference is that if I plug the heli into a Syma wall charger or USB cable, it runs both main blade motors instead of charging batt. Only way to charge is the remote that came with, or USB that came with. Also, compared with my genuine yellow one, this thing is painfully slow. I sent an e-mail to Amazon, telling them about this Co. selling fakes, and that I should be compensated for having been cheated, (Like, let me keep this one and send me a real one or a refund) so we’ll see what they do. Watch out for anything this Co. is selling!
Where is your information coming from? Yes there are differences, but I highly doubt these are fakes. Companies switch manufactures all the time and you can end up with these slight differences in parts and quality control.
I got the information from this website.
Exactly, these fake claims on inexpensive technological products are silly without direct word from SYMA. The S107 may be a good product to steal proprietary design, but building fakes would be a stupid investment.
I recently purchased from Amazon (shipped & sold by Amazon) and received a fake model since it has pink and green motors. It flies and recharges well, but I’m feeling sour since it’s not the real thing.
Should I ask Amazon for a replacement?
No you should not if it flies well, but in my opinion I think the real Syma flies better.
