I just received a replacement S107 from Hong Kong, off fleebay. The guy was at least good enough to send it at my request without me having to send the first one back.
Sadly, this one is just as bad a fake as the first and has all the same problems right out of the box - klunky, crappy transmitter with jerky or no response, little or no speed control - pure garbage, and a waste of time. The charging plug and socket refuse to mate, and constantly separate, the fast-slow blinking/non-blinking multi-colored LEDs seem to have no relationship to what's actually going on.
I'm not too concerned anymore as I've very happily graduated to a WL V911, but anyone wanting a genuine Syma S107 had best not expect to find one on fleebay. Where you would be guaranteed a genuine one, I do not know. 8>/

You need to go back and read my post again. I said Hobby King is selling to ebay power sellers who are selling the 9X's for 129 and 139 on ebay. I've received 3 or 4 in stock emails and within seconds I go there to order a 9X, and their sold out already. Something very funny going on there.I ordered my FS-TH9X transmitter on Sunday, and got it Wednesday. Im very happy with Hobbypartz so far. Dennis
I see, will look into that- also Hobbypartz,as never bought from them talk soon

I think it's the same tx, but Hobby King is always out of stock. They sell em all to ebay power sellers and they wind up on ebay for 129 to 139.My friend John almost had to take Hobby King to court, but after they were served, they settled out of court quickly.
I received at least 4 emails stating the 9x was back in stock, I would go there immediately, and they would be out of stock again.
I bought the TH9X and 8 ch receiver from Hobbypartz for $98.00 shipped, and set it up to my Trex 450 clone last night. Sweeeet !
My only complaint so far is that the throttle cut has to be turned off when you initialize (all switches back).
I am surprised your friend has had a problem with HobbyKing-I make no money promoting them.I and my friend have spent well over $4000 in the last year with never a problem-Sure they run out of stock and email me when available, you have to be quick for good selling products. As for them selling on Ebay-I feel you are not correct, they do not need Ebay. What did happen was people pretending to be HobbyKing on Ebay- just my view. Just put my fpv order in with HobbyKing for Fat goggles, cheaper than most and arrive within 12 days. I am still waiting for parts from Ebay 10 weeks later for my mqx quad-never Ebay for me anymore. Also have you considered where Hobbypartz gets their products from. Not trying to be smart here. Best policy to me is to be careful what you post on companies not to get sued on blogs etc- just trying to protect you and us all in what we say about companies selling products without due diligence-- Sure you understand..SF

Now there's a new TX in town, the Flysky FS-TH9X. Their similar to, but have 3 more channels than the DX6i, and their only $98.00 shipped, come with an 8 channel receiver, and extra receivers are only $14.00. Mine should be here later today.
I have seen those but never bought one to give my review.I have bought a few remotes cheap from Hobbyking. One I like is the Turnigy 9X 9Ch Transmitter w/ Module & 8ch Receiver (Mode 2) (v2 Firmware) for $54 I buy heaps of stuff from Hobbyking and find them a great company to deal with. Let me know how you go with the Flysky FS-TH9X- link to Rcgroup on it

Will do, Dennis - thanks for the tips!
BTW I just took another look at that other S107 I've got - the one that never worked and that also screwed up the USB port on my laptop. Now that I know what to look for, it shows all the signs of being a fake. I got that one off fleebay too. Never again.

Just get you head geared for the new controls. Throttle and rudder on the left stick, and your cyclic on the right stick (forward/backward/ slide left/slide right). get that down and you'll be fine.
Also, keep in mind that to take off, you'll need some right cyclic, and possible some forward too, in order to come up straight.
Once it's up trim the tail like you did with the S107G and get it stableized, the trim the left right cyclic till is doesn't slide left or right.
With a little practice you'll get real good at flying it around, and it will get your brain and thubms ready to fly a 6 channel collective pitch heli, as they control exactly the same way, but the V911 is alot easier to hover.
Once ya get the right/left /fwd/bkwd cyclics on the right stick, and the rudder on the left stick all trimmed, you'll find it hovers almost as easily as a coaxial heli, but your right thumb will be a little busier thats all...
Just remember, gunna crash, throttle off, and you'll be fine, and get the hang of it and be zipping it around the house and yard in no time at all. You'll love the little drop in usb charger :>)
Send me an email at freeonthree@snowcrest.net and let me know how your doing with it please. Dennis
It's not really unstable, it's just small and fast. They also have a tendancy to back up about a foot after you go forward and stop. Same with going backward also. Thats because they only have 2 servo's operating the swash plate. The rear just floats. I added a light spring to the mix, but it didn't help much. The V911 can be flown around slow, but it goes fast and handles great too, so it's kinda hard to not play and tear up the sky with it. Their tough too, as you can see in my video. As long as you shut the throttle off before crash impact, they can survive about anything without damage. I've crashed mine at least 50 times and havn't even scratched it. Even knocked the little battery out of it's holder/connector a few times. lol
If you order from Hobbypartz, they have free shipping for orders over 50 bucks, and they ship out of Los Angeles (City Of Industry).
They apparantly had some issues with the BBB in the past, but it appears that they have learned how to do business correctly and make their customers happy. My friend Pete in NY ordered 4 times from them recently, and always got his stuff within a week, so I took the plunge and ordered a new Flysky FS-TH9X transmitter and receiver on saturday night. It's out for delivery as of 6:48am this morning. Now thats service ! Dennis
Thanks for the replies guys. Yes the Biggles stories go back a ways for me too 8>) Old? C'mon, if I was old would I be here playing with toy helis? oh wait... 8>)
Flying outside? Yes, fun for sure but ain't cone it in a while... (lookit that weird old guy playin' with toys!) 8>)
Reason I mentioned a camera on the V911 was some review said they hover relatively OK hands-off. But I guess are still not that stable.
Heck do I need to buy more than ONE heli then? oh crap 8>)
I am considering buying through Amazon for their great return and shipping backup policies, but they can be tricky and not always fast on shipping, and they often use UPS 8>/. And I notice they change vendors practiclly by the hour.
Some of the heli specialist stores (HK?) I've seen charge rip-off shipping fees you don't see until check out. Who would you recommend to buy from? I'm in CA.
Considering: WL V911, for flying inside mainly (orange/black or Blu/wht - any difference?) Where to buy?
Also a DH 9116 is still very appealing. And it's BIGGER (if flying outside).
(Money is an issue right now, and I'm not going beyond 4-channels.)
My fake S107 seller says he is sending me a free yellow one (I figure that might stand more of a chance of being a genuwine Syma). We'll see if it arrives; maybe he's not such a bad guy.
thanks

Biggles2- funny you know read all the Biggles book as a kid! giving away my age lol--to fly out side a single rotor heli is the best way to go-coaxial helis hate wind because of turbulence. Just consider your cost factor and get a good remote like a Spektrum 6 or better to bind a good heli with, helps to put dual rates and exponential's into remote for easier flying.

The V911 is not a good choice for air video in my opinion. They move around too quickly. You need something very stable, like a quad copter for real good quality video. My Double Horse 9053 is pretty stable and smooth when there's no wind, and it could carry a pretty good size camera I think. Syma has a new S107C now. The C stands for camera. Have you seen that one yet ?
Yes thanks guys, I know it's not Syma's fault at all. I love my one genuine S107G (actually now my g/f's). I may get another one, but truthfully I'm ready for something a bit different, and Dennis it's funny you mentioned the WL V911, 'cause I just spent about an hour reading reviews of them - pretty much all great.
I was considering a DH 9116 before that. One thing I want to do is stick a mini DV camera under the chopper... would this be out of the question with the V911 do you think?
On the question of the best chopper to mount a camera on, I'm guessing a single-blade sports flier might not be the most stable choice(!) especially if like me you're still learning to fly one. Maybe a gyro-ed one, like a larger version of the 107... any ideas on that?
Just saying, it seems like 'sports flying' and 'stable camera mount' would be two different descriptions, no?
Thanks for any thoughts on this.
I think I really want a WL V911 in any case!
(My fake 107, now just over 24 hours old, is a write-off - just a mess of sporadic jerks and blinking LEDs and not even close to being able to fly again. I have notified the fleebay seller, but expect nothing.)
cheers
