A bit more of a radical suggestion,
restart the forum using a phbb format which is hosted for free something like this one http://modelsteam.myfreeforum....../index.php or this http://forum.austina30a35owner...../index.php
because photographs are allowed to be larger. the system is less clunky and you can still put your selling links on it.
Rename the forum Model Helicopter and Quads pilot's forum
Shelves for all types of flying things and an international membership. No need to completely stop the old forum, Just add links to each.
The world of model helicopters has moved on from the 107 but it is where most people start so mustn't be ignored.
RedFive, your suggestions are more than welcome and as a matter of fact,
it's the ideas of evryone on the forum to communicate things like this to
us so we know what will make this better.
Honestly, SF and I were IMing last night for over a 1/2 hr on ways
to improve the site to better serve us all. Several of the topics included,
but were not limited to:
1.) Quads and drones......they are a hot topic now and Syma has some
great stuff in the works. Some of us already have the X6 and are working
through its issues
2.) FPV, as the technology improves and materials become less expensive,
this could be the next hottie, already technology exists to use a camera
linked to a smart-phone for almost the same experience.
3.) Built-in Hi-Def cameras.....I'm surprised the X5 hasn't gotten it's
5 minutes of fame outside if we fliers.
4.) New topics are popping up regularly now and being added, such as
the Landing Pad game and that was a huge success, so it is possible that some
realignment of topics, threads, or "rooms" will occur shortly.
Pictue limitations and movies are something we just need to deal with as this is a
privately owned website and greater data input means more $$ output. Be glad we have what we have
and use resources like Youtube following leads on what you learned here. SN has some GREAT
instructional videography on here that plays quite well.
Emoticons should be there for you to use in the bottom-left corner of the window
in a box called "Smileys". If you don't have it, let us know.
Bryan, please understand that this is a worldwide effort here as SF and SN are in Australia where this
site originates and CPD and I are in Pennsylvania, USA so communicating is all but impossible
with a 16 hr time difference.
We do appreciate you understanding and again welcome you to the forum.
Keep your ideas coming in and happy and safe flying!
The following users say thank you to JamDJ for this useful post:
Syma FreakI am a very newcomer to the forum and am grateful that it exists. I make these suggestions with no demand that they happen but in a spirit trying to help. I have no idea what technicalities would be faced by the administration so please feel free to ignore these if not possible or practical.
Make a other syma models section for all non 107 models to move syma posts into rather than polluting 107 threads or posting in non syma helicopters.
Make the picture limitations bigger pictures speak better than words but not at those small sizes.
Allow emoticons for all. The written word is hard to discern if someone is joking or not without an emoticon.
Keep up the great work!!!
