Possibly a bad motor. When you are not holding it, and it begins to lift off the ground, the good motor is restricted (protection mode) so the heli doesn't spin out of control radically and get damaged. That's my guess.

I just got a S107 from amazon, it seems to be syma and not a fake.  It flew great after the first charge, but since then it won't even lift off.  The rotors get up to enough speed where it will kind of skate across the ground, but won't lift off. I've made sure that it was fully charged and tried this several times.  

 

One interesting thing is if I hold the heli it seems to power up more, but once I let go it drifts to the ground since it doesn't have enough power.  

 

Ideas?
