Well, the things I can think of are that

A. there's either a different internal resistance of the batteries, (ok, actually cells) which would possably ruin the controller if the 9v battery has too little resistance

B. 9v batteries are particularly expensive, and rechargable 9v's are also a lot more expensive than AA cells

C. 9v batteries are actually made up of a true battery of 6 1.5v cells, which are smaller than AAA cells, and do not last as long relativly as AA cells, and do not provide the same ammount of mah, just like how D's and C's are also 1.5v cells, and provide much more oomph than AA's.

D. if you can successfully do it, I wouldn't charge from the remote... Heck, I wouldn't charge from the remote except emergancies anyway!

Thanks for the reply, JamDJ. Guess I'll go with option 1. ;-) The IR Tx must draw more juice than the old 2.4 GHz radio ones. Progress... I guess that's what rechargeables are for, eh?

Hi, I.B. Great question! Seems like we are all concerned about those little LiPo batteries instead of

the easily-replaceable AAs. Yup, 1.5V x 6 does = 9V! Seems odd that you mentioned it, I just checked

on the Tx batts in my 2 cars and they are 9V also, and BTW original, being several years old.

I can only think of 2 possible explanations: (Help me out here, CPD!)

1.) The mA/H discharge rate may be slower in a AA than a 9V. Since these heli's can be charged

via the Tx, is it possible the slower discharge might be necessary to protect the Lipo from being fried?

2.) Syma is owned by Duracell ! ! !

Choose one of the above and welcome to the forum!

My son just got a SYMA S107G. He's loving it! So am I, except for the battery part... Is there anyone who has modded the transmitter to take one 9V (rectangular) rather than the 6 1.5V AAs it currently takes? Is there any reason one wouldn't want to do this? His RC car takes one 9V in the transmitter, so I was a bit surprised to see 6 batteries in his heli transmitter. Thanks for any advice!
