Supernova, I was lucky enough in the army to fly in a heli, a few times. I have fly'd a Bell 206B-1, no take offs or landings, been in a CH-47 Chinook as passenger and two fixed winged aircraft. Flying around in a CT4 parrot was the best fun ever, the other was a Pilatus Porter PT6 both fixed wing.

The 206B-1 was as easy as a fixed wing to fly in a straight line. I did not like the vibrations at all, no wonder cameras don't work properly.

I've done speedway and I feel for your accident, I landed on my roof because some idiot pushed me into the wall.  It's all fun and for all you young folk out there, treat your body well..! it's gunna hurt if you didn't like it in the first place.

Here's the thing about skydiving.

People pay good money to fly places, and here's these goofballs deciding that they're too good for the tiny plane they're in. So, they jump out of a perfectly good airplane, and go for a ride, trusting to heck and back that some other person packed a thing sheet of nylon just right, and nobody screwed with it.

Lol. Not sure who I'm originally paraphrasing, but lol anyway. (probably George Carlin... but I can't find it anywhere)

Some guys I know whent for one of those pay-to-fly helicopter rides that cost like $1500 for an hour or something in just a stupid little thing so they could take areal photos of the East Broad Top Railroad. Needless to say, they weren't impressed because, "well, the helicopter ride was fun, but you couldn't get any pictures that would turn out. As it turns out, you need a special photography rig to counteract the vibrations from the rotors that would cost you, oh, um, about $5000. All of the photos I took, except for, oh, like one or two, were all blurry from the vibrations."

Wish I had the cash to fly in a heli and not be happy because my photos didn't turn out because I didn't feel like spending $5000 EXTRA dollars.

I really want, whenever I have the time and money to go to Georgia to the Army Aviation Heritage foundation and fly in one of their restored hueys. That just looks to be soooooo much fun!

But, for right now, never have flown, not in a heli or a jet or anything. (well, except if you include some times in karate where you wish you weren't flying... makes my side and kidney region hurt thinking about it! Uggg! Why do I have to be the crash test dummy when the official Magickarp 19 or 20 year old Crash Test Dummy isn't there? lol All so we can show people how to do it so they can't get hurt...)

But, I've at least worked on that same old huey I keep bringing up. Ahhhh. That year was one of the best in my life!

Sounds like you had a very lucky escape! Bummer you missed the heli ride eh, but i'm sure you was in no fit state to enjoy it anyway.

I've had a Helicopter flight over the grand canyon about 7 years ago i'll remember that for the rest of my life.

The air ambalance do a great job, I live close to the north west air ambalance base and you would be amazed at the amount of air time that helicopter gets.

Two of my friends lost their lives a few years back in a car crash on the back roads when their car left the road and rolled over, the air ambalance where called out  but one died in the car and the other died on route to hospital.

I have supported the air ambalance ever since that day.
