I agree the s800g is great for those staying with the budget indoor helis. I am looking to get into the large 6ch helicopters in the future but I know it is not a great idea to just jump and buy a $1000 bird on your first try out. For me it would be hard to rewire my head between mode 2 and mode 4 if I went as far as the s800g. With the s107g there is less to relearn for me. It would be nice if they made a version that was switchable between mode 2 and mode 4.

UPDATE: I found a DIY mod to the transmitter to change it to the other mode(which I may of been mixing up in earlier posts). I decided since the S800G is such a good helicopter I have to give it a try. After doing more research on it and the recent price drop on amazon($21.44) it is simply the best next step from the S107G now that I can switch the modes. CPD you made a strong point, strong enough to make me give it more research. Thanks

Everybody hates on the controler layout for the 800g, but here's the bottom line. Yes, most 4+ channel helis are mode 4, and these are mode 2, but when you're used to the mode 2 for the 3ch, and you're not switching back and forth between two different styles for different helis, it's nicer to be able to just use the same layout as the s107. If you're going to be flying bigger and badder helis, then it's worth it to use the other modes on other helis. If not, I think it's best to fly the s800g.

The other thing is, with the 800g being the about the same price as the 107, I like the fact that you get a 4ch that is about bulletproof for what you can get a bulletproof 107g 3ch for.

I have looked over the s800g and I keep thinking I don't want to learn mode 2 4ch flying. From what I gather most 4ch are mode 4 and it seems to make more sense imo. So I am considering the Blade SR 120 as my next step because I want to be able to fly outside with my 4ch once I get that far.

Good to hear it's flying well!

Ok, as far as moving on, I have to admit, I've kinda moved on a tad... ordered up a 2nd s800g this morning from amazon. I think I'm going to start moving away from the s107 for future helis, toward the s800g. It's not for absolute beginers, but considering how it's the same price (actually a little cheaper right now with the christmas s107 markups) it's the one to buy for a 2nd or 3rd heli. I'm still going to keep my s107's flying, after I fix the tail of the one and the remote of the other, and just bought a replacement main shaft for the 102, since the top busted. The pins that hold the blades on sheared off, probably when my friend kyp crashed it into everything. lol Just going to follow super nova's video on replacing the top of the main shaft from when the dogbone pins were breaking. No use replacing the whole thing--not with how hard the s102 is to dissasemble anyway!

I did end up receiving my Ebay heli today. It seems completely genuine the motors are 1 black 1 white the board is red with a green LED etc. So I thought I would offer a link to the listing I bought from but it does not look like he has anymore atm.

Still waiting for the heli to charge up then I guess I will know if it is really a good one if it flies.

EDIT: I had my first flight and omg is this thing stable. I have never flown anything so stable. No crashes at all it almost seems to easy to fly but I have not modded anything yet <evil grin>. I can't wait for my piccooz props to get here the forward movement is way too slow for me but I have no fear that it is not changeable. I have a feeling the 4ch heli are calling me I need a challenge.

Oh, trust me, we haven't moved on! Some of us might have bigger and badder things, (Errm... Super Nover... Cough Cough) but we're very much sticking with these little guys.

I wouldn't be suprised, however, if your ebay heli is a fake or doesn't work. Ebay's good for buying parts helis, and that's about it for s107's... Sometimes you can get a good deal on a heli that doesn't work just for some parts pretty cheap, but that's all I would do...

Good luck and happy flying!

Who is moving on ? not me noooooo I still have 7 of em and love them like I always have Wink Just been busy building my new telescope.

I have to many toys to play with and no time to play, but still here guys I aint goin anywhere. LaughLaugh

My expected delivery of my ebay s107g is the 10th but I commonly receive my shipments a day early so maybe tomorrow. I have not been so giddy about a toy since the 80s.

I also have a pair of picooz tail props on the way. I like the idea of increased pitch range. Although I don't like the idea of turning the tail upside down and would rather cross the wires to the tail motor to reverse it's rotation. Has anyone had problems from doing it this way? long-term?

I bought a set of 2 for $5.60 but that listing is gone atm but this link is the same item.

I was alittle worried till the vendor replied with the UPC to check it and even went as far as to check the PCB to make sure it was red. So it might still be fake but I think I have a better than avg chance it is genuine. Crossing my fingers plus I didn't bargain shop $25USD is a fair price for the real deal.

I ordered my s107G on Ebay for $25 and hope it is genuine. I have been sporting afew coaxial copters and recently been playing with an Air Hogs Jackal. Which was the first 3 channel copter I have tried and have been enjoying my time with it but I think I have been bit by the heli-bug and want more hence the Syma s107g. Looking forward to modding this thing alot and hope the community is still active and hasn't moved on to big better things yet.
