Cool.  Good info.

CPD, where do you get your helicopters?  Just curious where US based members get theirs from.

Well, primarilly all of mine except one came from amazon. The 3rd in my roster of 4 (yeah, seems like it should be more, but with how little I actually get to fly, there's not that many on the squad, just 4) I bought at Aldi's about this time last year.

I will advise that if you buy from amazon, spend the extra money to get a color other than yellow, preferably one of the new colors. Yellows are usually fakes, and there are some fake reds out there too. (I think there's more fake yellows than real yellows in the world)

Now, like I said, I bought one from Aldi's that was re-branded or cloned or something by World Tech Toys. I would advise if possable you watch their sales ad if there is one of their stores in your area and see if they have them on sale for christmas again. They were $25 last year, while amazon was $20, but I can say with much safety that they are good helicopters, and you will not have a problem with them. (and trust me, after speed moding that one, it's taken a licking!)

Now all I have to do is fly a lot more so I can convince my mom I need another s800g, in a way that doesn't sound like I want it just for the remote... (I got one right at the start of a bad batch with bad remotes, but I had done so much to it by that point, and it flies with the 102 remote, so I just kept it)

It's not truely neccesary, but there's a few things you can do. Some people like to use lithium grease, like what is used for some other rc's and some model trains, but personally, the only experience I've had with it is it eventually hardens and would render these helis useless. SN likes to use a type of spray teflon or something like that. (sorry, not really sure exactly what it is) As for what I prefer, I had model train oil laying around, tried it out, and it's about perfect, as long as you don't mind the entire heli becoming covered in the stuff and the gears and any white plastic it gets on slowly turning yellow. It's not petrolium based, so it doesn't degrade the plastic, the bottles it tends to come with a small needle on them that allows you to apply it to exactly the tooth on the gear you want it to go on.

I talk about it and show how I do it in this. Not the best, especially considering it was episode I, and I try to be quiet here in the dorm. Wouldn't care and would be nice and loud at home, but not there right now. If I had time and suggestions, (and if the series hadn't flopped as bad as it did) I'd  make a few new episodes. (I know the first episode kinda sucked, but all things considered, I wouldn't have thought it would have done as bad as it has--episode I got good views, but a whopping 2 dislikes and no likes, with the others getting 20 views and no like/dislikes -________-)

Good to know.
Is any type of lubrication necessary?

Disabling the front LED is not worth the trouble.

I received an Extreme S-3.5G made by Syma, and I assume it's an S107G with different markings.

Love this thing, and already thinking of mods.  Did the spring removal from throttle and wrapped it to give some resistance.

A few Q's if you don't mind.

Is a 3.7V, 280mAh battery safe?  Somewhere online I found where someone claimed to put one in and nearly doubled flight time.

Does disabling the front LED do anything in terms of extending fligh time?

Are the S107Gs available as a stand alone purchase, without controller?  I'm assuming that they all use the same controller.  Would like to get a couple more, as my first one has had some epic crashes in a very short time.

Thanks in advance.
