Clones And Fake Syma S107
Clones And Fake Syma S107 rc Helicopters
A clone was a copy of original product: A fake is To contrive and present as genuine; counterfeit.
As you can see there is a difference: I have a clone Syma S107 with the word Yiboo on the canopy instead of Syma S107-Yiboo is a company in Houston that gets remote rc toys from China registered as "YALCIN KARADAG" Gets interesting does it not. Explained on Home page some of the boxes the Syma S107 is packed in -So will go over this in more detail as I feel it is your first heads up if it is a fake Syma S107.
This box below has Syma S107 G on it and Syma logo-Feel you are safe if comes in this box.
This is not the greatest photo-however this was a box my first Syma S107 arrived in-This is the one with Yiboo on the canopy. Photo below of Syma received-This is a clone, well built and perfect to fly.
This Syma S107 is still flying well after 30 plus flights the best I ever bought-This is a clone-all Syma parts just re badged to Yiboo-Many years ago in Australia where I live we had the "Button Plan" where by Ford could sell the Mazda 323 with a Ford badge on it calling the car from memory Ford 1.6 323-guess you get my gist-clones are not all bad fakes are tho.
This box is fake to me as has no Syma Logo-I bought three from Ebay seller for $17 a piece-each one was a dud-batteries would not charge, one just kept spinning and never flew-one remote had remote throttle control stuck in full position, also canopy black glass was frosty and not shinny-To me these could have been company rejects that the Ebay seller bought, or they were dropped shipped directly to me-Never sent them back-kept one for spares and fixed the others-Even the quality of the alloy frame was poorly molded and marked. Did give seller a poor review on Ebay.
Always if you can buy from your local store or Amazon. Be very careful buying cheap on Ebay as I mentioned bought 3 cheap and duds. I will keep looking for better on line stores for you to buy from.
Other Fake Syma S107 Signs To Watch For.
The main blade holder of fake S107 is made of metal, the genuine one is in pure black color. The main blade of the genuine Syma S107 have a few lines about the warning. However, the fake one only have the word “WARNING"- photo below shows extra writing on blades which is correct Something to check.
This is just what I have observed as love the Syma s107 because the correct bought ones are just a beauty to fly and I hate to feel people will buy a fake and hate the Syma and at worst never fly a mini-heli ever again- All written here are my observations and views always research yourself on any helicopter you are going to buy.
Emails Received:
Unfortunately this was sent to me with no name- Always worth different views to help get the best advice for Syma Freaks like me:
Thank you from the unnamed-Always connect with me if you see your email you sent me:
Hello I see your really into these little heli's and your site is really in depth on them so I figured I would share with you.
I received what I feel is a bogus or clone syma that I got from amazon (so they get them too) but wanted to share things to look for that I noticed. In the real one the remote's left stick spring loaded as is the fake but the real one uses a spring for this, the fake has some kind of spring box inside. Also the back of the remotes the texture is diffrent, the real one is textured on the handles of the remote and as for the clone it is smooth.
Another difference the real one has writing on it's chip inside the heli and the fake does not. Also the fake is missing a part inside looks bare compared to the real one. You mention the little black piece connecting the blades being metal in fake ones but my fake has a black one same as the real one also the blades are correct aswell with the writing and warning sign on my fake. Also another thing is the motors, the real syma's have one with a black top and one white top and the wires are coordinated between the 2 and the fake are not these colores 1 is pink and one green. Also on the real ones the gyro bar the tips are round and on the fake the ends are more flat.
If you want to know I got the clone from Pro Ebiz LLC aka Pyrus Electronics and the real ones I have from Superstition Hobbies both are sellers on Amazon. Hope it helps make your site even better. If you have any questions feel free to write back.
Thanks for your input-SF

Email from Michael Stevenson
Hello SF:
Superstition Hobbies is a Authorized Direct Imported/Distributor of SYMA Helicopters And Parts Directly from SYMA Toys Industrial Co. LTD of China. It seems though that there are some other S107 Helicopters being sold on Amazon as SYMA that may not be made by SYMA.
The ones we have found currently to be questionable have certain differences than the Genuine SYMA S107G here are a few.
2. The Motors #S107-16 and #S107-17 the tops are green and red if they are? Genuine is Black and White.
3. The wiring on the motors are red and white and blue and black if it is? Original Red and Blue and Black and White.
4. Circuit board has a red flashing light in the middle of it if it does? Genuine is Yellow or Green
5. Circuit board should have writing on it of “S107R5” if not possible fake?
6. The tail rotor is a different has a flat tip if so? Genuine is rounded.
I am currently working with SYMA Toys Industrial Co. LTD of China to see what we can be done about this. I have a Letter from Syma acknowledging these diffrences.
If it does meet any of these descriptions above then it is a duplicate/fake SYMA S107 according to SYMA Toys Industrial Co. LTD .
Unfortunately the Company I have found to be selling the fakes is Amazon Corporation them selves. I have purchased samples from Amazon Corp and the are confirmed that they are fake Syma S107's.
Just thought you might be interested in this bit of information.

On the helicopter the circuit board is green should be red with S107R5 on the board, led on the board should be green not red, top of the motors are wrong colors should have a black top in the front with a white top in the back these are reversed and clamps holding blades are incorrect should be smoked. On the transmitter has three signals A, B and C should have two A and B and the control lever should be spring loaded it is not.
Tmart is selling fakes. Do not buy from Tmart.

Hi, I bought 3 syma 107g, 2 from the same supplier and one from another which is slightly different from the other two, i was wondering if i was able to send you photos of them if you were able to see if you thought they were fake or genuine as i cant make my mind up. Thanks
Gordon,it might be better to join our forum syma107.com/forum to post your photos there for all of us to view
Hi there..
got my syma s107G from Amazon (Battery Superstore aka Tynergy). I think the remote i got is a dud..installed the 6 AA batteries..flipped the power switch..and and the power light remains off. THe heli swicthed on..but nothing happens when I hit the throttles. Just wanted to check here before I return this…
Check where the batteries fit into the remote,I had one remote with a bad connection, bent the contact points and worked ok
Purchased my Syma S107G from Amazon (HELI SEMI) received all in perfect condition flies perfect. The first one I purchased was from Tmart.com the company is a fraud sent me a counterfeit helicopter sending me the helicopter in a plastic bag. They also sent my friend a counterfeit. I made the purchase using PayPal opened a case against Tmart there judgement was in my favor. The refund will be coming from PayPal using there protection plan. During the case Tmart lied and lied more. Michael
After inserting 6 new AA batteries in the remote, it does not look like the remote is ON after flipping the power switch. The power light does not light up. (i made sure the batteries are inserted in the right order and polarity). Did I get a dud?
Also, the instructions asks to select the same channel on the remote and the helicopter. I dont see a channel selecter on the heli..so I dont know how to make sure they are set on the same channel. (though if I can get the remote to power on..then this does not matter i guess)
When you turn remote on a green light should show that remote is live and working
Thanks buddy. The green light does not go on after turning the remote on. I tried playing around with the contact points..but everything seems to be in order there. So looks like I did get a dud..I will just send it back to Amazon. But I am not giving up..I am gonna order another one. 🙂
Hey..did you get a chance to look at my other question. Assuming that the remote does work, how do I make sure the heli is set to same channel as set on the remote. (mine came with 2 channel settings A or B).
Thanks again for the wonderful site.
I notice that on many of the amazon pictures the landing gear has white tips at the end of the silver whereas mine which has black tips seems to be legit are these white ones suspect or not??? even though the ones with white tips have the same signs, features as mine and have the same stuff as the above pics
My syma s107 bought from ebinary via amazon seems the real deal, all is great except the fact that the 2 buttons on the top of the remote dont work. they just sit flat the only move up if the remote is held upside down, i suspect there are springs missing. . . can you plz read back to see either what im missing or how to fix it, and by the way. . . great site
Possibly the remote buttons are there for other heli features as I’ve seen these same remote bodies in other Syma heli products.
I have three ‘Special Edition’ S107G’s and all have the same remotes with non functional buttons.
As somebody who works in manufacturing I think I can set some things straight. I myself have bought many Syma helicopters but I have yet to come across a fake one. Syma has a large factory in china and large assembly rooms where all of the parts come together to make our favorite helicopter. Most of the parts that are made though are not built on premises, they source out parts from multiple manufacturers so various things like plastic color, silkscreening, pcb silkscreening, soldermask color, plastic texture differences, remote control differences are all expected since Syma does not directly build them themselves. Perhaps the only real way to tell if a Syma is fake is by looking at the PCB design. If it matches the design with a SOIC package under the gears and a vertical gyro, it is probably real. If there is such a thing as a fake syma this is probably the only place where they could provably differ since somebody who copies it wouldn’t copy it directly. Anyways, I’ve had symas with huge varieties of differences and they were all genuine and flew very well. Some symas have bad batteries installed, hence the bad fly time or other problems. I personally believe that the majority of Syma fakes are simply attributed to manufacturing and supply defects. There are other factories out there that make very similar helicopters but they are quite discernable from syma’s. My two cents anyways.
I bought a syma s107 from amazon recently only it was one of there comparisons, it actually came form ebinary for 13.93 and it wasn’t so much a fake though im not sure which model they sent as on the box and manual it says s107 G but on the heli theres nothing to suggest its a s107G apart from the fact the remote has 2 channels whereas the one i ordered said it had 3. can you help, what happened?
A very thorough and comprehensive research effort, but seriously dude, you need to get out more. A grown man obsessed with a $20 toy from China?
They are *all* cheap toys (fake or not) that you play with for a while and then toss them aside. If you are discover a serious hobby in the process, splurge $100+ for the real deal and move on. Stop obsessing about cheap c**p from China!!
Amazing as it may seem but all the best helis are made in China-I guess they must all be rubbish-lol
xHeli just sent me a “HeroRC” S107. It is not a Syma. Does anyone know anything about this?
Copies , Imitations or left over surplus parts exist everywhere
I posted some interesting clone differences on a famous rc website to help others
Typically Real Syma S 107’s will have a Red circuitboard with a flashing Green LED
As for the color of motor covers this varies as all these things copters come from asia
Sadly there are really bad knock off counterfeit ones and prime example is wiring
a Fake one generally may have the wire bundle all gobbed up and pinched by a motors support bracket
I would use these copters as spare parts before ruining anything important
hope this helps someone
Sincerely;
LWD
My S107s just arrived, and I have inspected them.
S107 #1, Blue, is a fake, but appears to be a well-built one.
Box is rebadged “World Tech Toys”, this was expected. Has the patterned carry handle.
Remote has textured back, though has access to channels A, B, and C.
Copter itself:
-Both motors have white tops.
-The hood bears “S107”.
-The charger connector is a barrel plug in a square cutout on the copter’s side.
-The gearbox appears normal for a S107.
-The top rotor is black plastic.
-The rotor blades have the small writing.
-Flybar weights are round with flat ends.
-Tail rotor looks squareish, with flat ends.
-There is tiny writing on the PCB that I can’t read at this time.
-The control LED is green.
Performance:
Sublime. Very responsive. POWERFUL lift, barely applying throttle keeps her airborne. Forward thrust like a rocket! Slight forward drift.
S107 #2, red, is defective. No charger port on the copter. I’m going to try for an exchange on this unit, or keep it for parts.
Has all the same features as #1, except one black one white motor, and the mentioned missing charge connector.
Hi Josh, it sounds like you got the real deal. There’s a difference between a clone knockoff and a legit clone that has been rebranded.
This is done a lot in the tech / marketing world, it’s called a white label product. Company B buys Company A (Syma) products and resells them with Company B’s logo.
So what you have is the original product in a different box (at least the blue one anyway).
I got one from HOBBYTRON.COM?
FAKE ONE and DEFECTIVE-only the lights work.
They refuse to replace with a GENUINE WORKING ONE.
When asked for credit on my credit card they say they only offer in-store credit.
I turned to my credit card company and filed a dispute.
They have given me credit, subject with communicationsto HOBBYTRON.COM
I reccomend anyone to not do ANY business with them.
I ordered another one from SuperstitionHobbies.com.
I just purchased the “Phantom” from HobbyTron. http://www.hobbytron.com/GYROPhantomS107ElectricRTFRCHelicopter.html. It was a Groupon sale. The specs for the Phantom” seem the same as the “Gyro S107”. http://www.hobbytron.com/S107MiniGYRORCHelicopter.html
My question is (not sure if you know) are both the same and are both rip-off’s of the Syma helicopter?
Thanks
I guess as I have done in the past is to buy it and see if flys ok-My question to you is-why try a heli that looks like a Syma 107 clone under a different name-Buy the original and save yourself some grief, that is why we spend so much effort with this blog to guide you-let us know how you go-Take care.
The Phantom S107 arrived. Like the other poster, the box was re-badged “World Tech Toys”. It’s physical characteristics is exactly as Josh described above. Very well built clone and the performance is great out of the box.
hey for some reason the top roader on my helli when i let it go shakes then the blades colide and fall and i dont know why. any ideas
@mav check this post on forum
You’re just guessing about fakes.
SYMA has sold models for private label. Also, manufacturing evolves. For a successful product like the S107 I would expect changes from one large manufacturing run to the next.
A complex, technological item that wholesales for $10 is unlikely to attract forgers. It ain’t Prada.
I just received an S107G from Battery Superstore (Tenergy) off Amazon and received the real deal. All of the previous posts helped greatly in confirming whether it was real or a clone. Thanks for such an informative conversation!
Hi folks – just received an S107G ordered from Amazon (merchant was Tenergy aka Battery Superstore). It appears to be original, but still investigating and this site is wonderful.
In the meantime, I’ve read some differences in the altitude control – some seem to be spring operated, some aren’t? This is my first heli (it’s actually for my 12-year old son) – and little I’ve tried one at a store – it seems that the non-spring loaded control would be better??? Mine has a spring forcing the control to always come back down…
Thanks!
Brad
Hi Brad, I own 8 of these IR heli’s, and I can tell you that for beginner to intermediate, the spring return on the throttle is a blessing because all you have to remember if you’re crashing, is to let go of it. With the non-spring throttle, you have to think to turn it off, or it will continue to drive the blades, and do bad things to your heli. I’m talking stripped gears, broken blades, bent shafts, and the like. Build some skills before trying a non-spring throttle. You’ll be glad you did! Wade
I bought one from Amazon and it’s the real deal. s107R5 on the board and it flies very well.
I boyght three more from LighTake during a group buy and they are all fakes and do not work. DO NOT buy from Lightake!
Hi Shaun, just found your website and inputted my details, then clicked back to finish reading the first page, now when i input email address and name again i get your this email is all ready a subscriber page’ coming up so now i cannot see the 5 part automated advice page, any advice…

First off, this is a great site with a bunch of good info, I just wish I had found this sooner. I recently purchased a S107 and S108 from Amazon. When I received them I was very excited, but completely unaware that the fakes existed. The S108 I got was a genuine Syma, the S107, however, was not. After testing both out, I quickly noticed that the S107 had trouble connecting with the controller and would only sporadically cause the heli to begin moving. Thinking it needed to be charged, I hooked the S107 up to my laptop, and the S108 up to the a/c charger that I purchased as well. After about 40 minutes, the S108 was charged, the S107 was not. At this point, I tried connecting the S107 to the a/c charger and as soon as it was connected, the blades started spinning, even though the heli was turned off. At this point, I knew something wasn’t right, and began searching online and found this site. Turns out my S107 has ALL the symptoms of a fake.
Unfortunately for me, by now the damage had been done and the usb ports on my laptop are fried. I contacted Amazon, and they claim that they have no more in stock, so that they can only refund my money for the heli. I contacted them again, since they didn’t even comment on my computer being messed up. This time they told me I should get my computer fixed and that they could give me $10 for the inconvenience. Clearly $10 isn’t going to cover fixing my laptop, so I gave them a call. After being on the phone for about 10 minutes, the Amazon rep told me that without any kind of proof of the “fake” units, and that I should contact Syma. So far I have sent Syma 2 emails trying to get some info to help me just get my computer covered by Amazon, but so far no responses.
Amazon wants some kind of proof that the fakes exist, that I have one, and that the faulty wiring inside it could fry my usb ports. From everything I’ve read on this site alone, it seems that it is 100% possible for that to happen. But, at this point, if ANYONE can provide any more information and can assist me anymore, I would greatly appreciate it!!
Hendrik, tell them this. If you have to, you can copy and paste this as if you wrote it yourself:
The helicopter was obviously a fake Syma. The market is saturated with them and if you know what to look for, you can easily tell a fake from a real one. This website (syma107.com) has extensive documentation from users who have gotten fakes and specifically points out the differences and how to spot them.
One of the huge problem with the fakes is that their helicopters and chargers have the reverse polarity of the genuine ones. Now, if someone were to get a fake and use it with the fake charger, it would work fine, since the polarities match. But if one didn’t realize it was a fake (and obviously most people will never know theirs is a fake, especially when buying from amazon or a reputable seller) then they might use the charger from one heli on another. And if one uses the charger from a fake on a real heli, or vise versa, then the polarities will be mismatched, causing a short-out. But this is even worse than a short out from your laptop, because not only is it shorting out with the laptop’s own electricity, but the battery from your helicopter is dumping it’s entire capacity too (hence the blades spinning even while off). Us electricians call this a “huge fucking problem”. If you left that charging and went to go get a snack for a few minutes, you’d be lucky if you didn’t come back to find your house burning down. A short out like that is very dangerous AND these lithium-polymer batteries are EXTREMELY flammable when shorted out. Call amazon and ask to talk to someone in charge. They may make you wait but just wait. When you get someone with authority on the phone, tell them all this. Mention words like “liability” and “class action lawsuit”, see how they react to that. There needs to be some accountability here. They sold you a defective DANGEROUS product that’s falsely advertised as being authentic and it damaged your property under normal use.
3 months ago friend of mine bought a clone Syma S107 from London Drugs after seen my original one which was purchased at the same store.
The Clone was branded as Cobra. After about 1 month of use the main shaft came loose and one of the main gears lost connection with the pinon. So he contacted the company and they were super friendly with him and sent him a new heli + repairing parts for the broken one.
Now really the most surprising thing: They have sent an ORIGINAL SYMA as a replacement :0 Yes He now has two helis. The clone doesn’t charge properly over USB. Now my friend is flying much better with a much more responsive and stable helicopter.
Just wanted to share this little story with you.
Interesting story,thank you for posting
I received two clones yesterday from an eBay seller in Australia where I live. As well as all the identifying things that are listed here I also noticed that my genuine Syma has the electrical leads for the tail motor visible (clove didn’t). The genuine one has a basically flat plastic base where the skids attach and the clone had a base with moulded contours. Probably the first thing that I noticed though was the throttle control on the remote of the fake did not have the vertically aligned gate on it that the real one does. Not to mention after charging the fake its flying was a bit erratic and showing signs of batter exhaustion after 1 minute. Hope this also adds to the store of info.
@Phil_R Thank you for posting-do you know the name of seller on Ebay,I realize you might not want to release sellers name especially if returning products-keep us all posted tho if you returned goods and how it went- Ebay is cheap but the quality of sellers is really bad for the Syma S107,they are just dudders- really upsets me as they know they are not genuine helis-Thanks buddy SF
OK fellas, can you tell me what length is a real 107G ? 190-220-230mm. I am at a loss about this.I am an Aussie, and have trouble getting gear from Amazon- but maybe its me!
Weight: 34g
size: 220x38x98(mm)
Dimensions: main rotor diameter 190mm
Hey all…unfortuneately, Planet Stuff is still selling on Amazon. Does anybody have any info as to where the company is situated, phone number, address, anything? I wanted to contact them outside the Amazon system…something better then anon Amazon email. Help? Sorry to hear you all had troubles with items you bought!
Thanks for the post Leelee. Yeah, Planet Stuff is definitely back. They sold me an “S107” that was 100% counterfeit and reverse polarity so it wasn’t even safe to charge it with the USB charger.
I am not sure if this is even true, but this is what I was told when I contacted XHeli about the fake I got when ordering from them via amazon: When you order from a seller through amazon, many times the actual product you get is not shipped by the seller, it’s from amazon themselves. When I ordered from XHeli via amazon, the one they sent me was not real. I contacted XHeli themselves through their website, not through amazon. During the chat, at one point they asked me to read the return address on the box. It turns out the “S107” I got had a totally different vendor on the return address. It seems that amazon does not necessarily send you a different product depending on which seller you order from. Amazon just sends you any “S107” they can get.
I am not sure if that is true, but that’s what was implied based on what XHeli’s customer service rep told me. If this is to be believed, then ordering authentic S107’s on amazon is hopeless.
I have ordered from at least 5 different sellers on amazon, and with 3 of them I personally spoke with the companies before buying and verified that it would be a REAL S107. I have yet to get a real S107. I return them each time. They are all either so ignorant that they dont even realize theyre selling fakes, or theyre liars. Or, like I said, amazon may be supplying the products from whateevr warehouse they choose, and the sellers have no control over the actual product that gets shipped out on their behalf. This seems sketchy to me though, because if that were the case then when I contacted these sellers, they would tell me they have no control over what amazon sends out, instead of reassuring me that their products are real. Also, many seemed to say that they had actual inventory, so apparently the sellers do ship them out themselves.
The bottom line is, that from the consumer’s perspective, amazon is not the way to go for ordering real S107’s.
If we want to be able to order from someone and know for sure that we are getting a real S107 without having to mess around then we need to seek business elsewhere.
@Ben Good post-I feel because the Syma S107 is a big seller on Amazon that the shonky sellers jump in on the act, there is a term used called dropshipping, companies do not own any products but just send email address and order throught and is sent with no company name often in plain wrapped boxes. The important thing for us all is to post if bought from Amazon and genuine heli, the name of the company-in turn post the bad sellers and I will write a post on them-I buy 90% all my helis from RcFever lot more expensive on postage, but hey all been genuine so far-keep us updated
My new S107 arrived the other day. Second try. Seems to be real. Only thing is that both motors have black tops. Anyone ever heard of this?
I bought it from amazon from seller “Battery Superstore”.
In all other areas, it seems to be legit.
-The circuit board has a green light on it, not red.
-Circuit board has “S107R5” printed on it. Below that it says “SMLBH”.
-Tail rotor is rounded on the ends, not more squared like the fake one I got.
Other differences: The weighted ends of the fly bar are cylindrical. On the fake one, they were more elliptical, like airplane wings.
Also the real one does not have the binding problem- it binds to the controller much faster.
In terms of performance, it’s nice. Turning is very responsive, but I think it doesn’t actually turn as fast as the fake. Also the fake may have had more powerful rotors but was less stable. In all, the real and fake actually performed similarly. I imagine 95% of people who receive fakes will never know or care. Unless they have one real S107 and one fake S107 that has the reverse polarity and try to use the charger from one heli on the other. Then they may find it fries their USB port of worse.
I took it outside to see how it performed out there. Sunlight interferes with the IR signal so I did it at dusk. It was awesome. On a windy day, it wouldnt stand a chance but with calm or no winds, its a blast. The thing climbs very high with ease. It also fell a few times from really high up (like at least 50 feet. Oops!) and took zero damage. Got the thing stuck on the roof once. No problem. Just backed up enough to the controller had line of sight with the heli and flew it off!
Anyway, I’m happy so far. Gonna but another for myself and now my brother wants one too. But has anyone heard of an S107 with motors with black tops? If you need pics, I can supply.
@Ben I have a few with black motor tops-to me they are clones not fakes-clones fly ok-just lost battery on my first clone some 4 months of flying-will change to Dales battery mod-glad you are having fun
@Syma Freak
Hey, so I got an idea. I was looking to buy another S107 and I found myself getting confused on who to order from. People here have had experiences they’ve reported from different sellers on amazon, ebay, other websites, etc. But to find all that information, one would have to pretty much read this entire page as well as every single comment. My idea is to put together a list in one place on this website. This list would have different sellers and our experiences with them. For instance, we know that “Planet Stuff” on amazon sells fakes. It appears now that “Battery Superstore” on amazon sells clones. And we know that RC Fever sells only real S107’s. Making a nice clean list in one place would be a really valuable too.
I think it would become the go-to place for someone looking to buy a new S107. The article could include other buying advice too. And heck, down the road it could include lists like that for other heli’s too.
I’ll gather all the existing info on sellers that I can, to start out. Wanna go for it?
@Ben This is a neat idea to get genuine sellers out there-We have to be careful in bagging bad sellers as this can lead to legal problems, what we can do is with advice on places we have bought our Syma S107 that are genuine then surly we can post a great post where people can buy with safety-however both you and me must have bought from them ourselves-my view is to be completely honest-sure I make a few dollars enough to pay for my hosting etc-not looking for fortunes but rather have people enjoy the Syma with good advice from guys like your self-you can always contact me direct at contact me -to discuss how we can set up a buyers guide-great idea
Amazon sells whatever they find in their database! I have had several fakes/counterfeit products shipped from them. The really frustrating part is that when you try to return an item you get the ultimate “RUN-AROUND” trying to locate where to return the product! I refuse to purchase from Amazon.com for those reasons. Spend the extra 15 or so minutes finding a valid reseller.
Gizmo51
@Gary,
Yeah, it does seem that amazon sends you whatever they can find, regardless of the “seller” you choose on amazon. And I have had nothing but fakes from them when ordering S107’s (otherwise, I love amazon, great prices and great services. I never had problems with them besides for these S107’s).
As far as returning stuff to them, I’m not sure what your referring to. Amazon is excellent about returns. If you want to return something, always go to amazon, not the seller. They refund your money without trouble and even pay for the return shipping (give you a prepaid shipping label to download and print out and stick on the package. Just follow their instructions. You can contact amazon’s customer service for help).
So yeah, as bad as amazon is about shipping out fakes, lets be fair, you can not complain about their customer service. I must give credit where credit is due, and amazon has never failed with returns. They are quick and painless and shipping is almost always free for purchases AND returns. If you say they’re giving you a “run-around” then I feel like you’re doing something wrong man. I have ordered hundreds of items through amazon over the years and have never had a single issue with their service. Problems are rare (with the unfortunate exception of Syma S107’s) and when they occur amazon is always helpful and takes responsibility. Just contact amazon, not the seller. On the amazon page, click “help” at the top right. Then on the right click the yellow “Contact Us” button.
And people on this website have spent hours of research, believe me. The sad truth is, finding a real Syma S107 takes more than “15 minutes”. The market is flooded with fakes and even the most promising sellers are shipping out fakes or clones. The only real exception we have found is RC Fever, but with shipping you end up paying literally almost double the price you’d pay on amazon.
@Ben Well explained.Have also received lots of emails with people buying from like small market stalls, all were fake helis and the seller was gone the next week. Please at least buy from established bushiness like say Amazon or RcFever as you then have a chance to get your money back if a fake-Still on Amazon the Syma S107 is among the best selling product in toys, you can view here Amazon sells thousands of them and noticed still a very small amount returned,so there are sellers out there doing the right thing.Again guys email me the bad ones and will put up a post with a warning not to buy from certain sellers-Can not see they can sue me for that, just telling the facts. SF
@Syma Freak
Yup, maybe a month ago I read in Bloomberg Businessweek that the S107 is the best selling toy now.
Yeah I dont think anyone could sue you for posting honest information about personal experiences, even if it shows some sellers in a bad light.
Ben received mine yesterday Feb 8, 2013 every shows it is a real Syma flies great both motors have black top with the correct color wires. I don’t think that color matters I would guess both motors black or white are the same motors. I did receive a true counterfeit from Tmart.com. The helicopter does not fly. The word Syma is not on the top right hand of the box plus the handle should be black not yellow that are only two indications others are on the helicopter and transmitter. I would like a refund or receive a true Syma.
I have purchased many Syma S107 and S108 series heli’s.
Apparently i’ve been lucky and not gotten a fake.
In my opinion it is the sellers that offer the products at ridiculously low costs with a freight charge that exceeds the value of the unit! As always “Let the buyer beware”!
Bait n’ switch is alive and well on the internet. RC-Fever seems to be honest with their prices and freight costs. I avoid Ebay and Amazon as they seem to be home to the fakers.
This commentary is not meant to be detrimental to the above mentioned companies. It is meant to warn potential buyers that they do not monitor the vendors selling on their sites.
@Gary Greeler Well put-Syma helis at really low prices I stay away from as well-Must admit been ok with Amazon but bought 3 duds off Ebay really cheap so served me right-As you said I find RcFever to be the best all round seller-postage a little high to Australia but the products are all genuine-There is a old saying-“you get what you pay for” Cheap is not always best.
Everyone keeps talking about how RC Fever is the best, so I decided to check them out. I’m kind of confused now. They charge $19.99 for an S107G and $15.60 to ship it. If thats a good shipping price, I’d hate to see what you guys call a high shipping price. I work at a warehouse and I can tell you this: shipping a box that size does not cost them $15.60.
I’m not really arguing with you, except for the fact that RC Fever does not have reasonable shipping fees. That is the only reason why I don’t use them. Just a personal preference. There is definitely something to be said though, about knowing with 100% certainty that you are getting an authentic product so I guess you pay a premium for that.
Anyway, I returned my first S107G to amazon because it was a fake and ordered another from a different seller. The first seller is not on amazon for S107G’s anymore at all, so thats good. I am currently waiting for my second try to arrive. I’ll post when it arrives!
@Ben I totally agree with you that the postage is expensive on RcFever and guess this is how they make a buck-reason I say that have tried lots of companies in China to buy 50-100 Syma S107 helis-their prices ended up for me in Australia just not to be doable-from memory they would work out at $25au arrived in Aussie, then postal cost – and then would they be genuine-I had the idea of testing each heli before posting with a certificate from me-great dream but because so many are sold on Ebay and a few popping their heads up on Amazon so cheap-no body cared if they were genuine-now I get 60 plus emails a day with upset people that have bought fakes from Ebay- A genuine Syma heli is really a great cheap heli-so yes I recommended RcFever as bought many from them-until I find a better seller at a cheaper price-my view is do you want a street vendor selling you a Syma or a genuine one that will work out of the box and can be returned to seller-If you also consider Amazon and heaps of emails I send them to realize a genuine Syma I am finding the scammers are moving out to Ebay-Cheap prices always suck people in- Amazon you can still return to-hence I put so many photos up with the help of people that read my blog and email me on their experiences of fakes-pisses me off to see so many sellers that are liars and scam merchants-let me tell you I am on their case!!
To me so sad to buy in faith a great heli only to be sold a fake and walk away from this great hobby-guess got all that off my chest-Ben thank you for your post-it helps all SF
PS Ethan a Syma Freak like me emailed me some photos so put his photos on a post This is just what he has observed- Remember this is just his observation and I felt important to post-even tho I get some nasty emails from I guess scam sellers would like to see my blog closed down-F–k em!(woops swearing not good-going to chill out on a syma flight)
The reverse polarity problem explained why the USB charging cable was missing from my box! I think Planet Stuff found out about it and removed the bad USB cable. I am using a good USB cable from another heli.
I also ordered an S107G from Amazon.com marketplace seller “Planet Stuff, LLC”. This is a fake with colored motors as described earlier. It works well, but is definitely not the real thing. Mine came minus the USB charging cable. Luckily, I have one from a previous (non-Syma) heli I bought.
Cool, thanks for the heads up! I’m gonna return mine tomorrow then. I may as well get one that is for sure a Syma. Why should we waste our time with fakes? Mine did come with a USB cable, but it was clearly not the same as the one that comes with the real Syma (I have seen pics of it)
@Ben The Syma flies ok forward, backwards you need to hit the throttle a bit harder as gets bogged down-no they are not like a rocket-you can do mods but will kill any warranty as such-Yes maybe send it back-however consider one becomes addictive to helis so you will buy another Syma, maybe fly it to the death and use as spares-just a thought.Just remember the Syma S107 uses a infra red remote-so hates digital TV’s and bright sunlight-also any draft or wind will mess up flying-keep away from air cond units, and shut doors so no draft keep me posted
@Dzung Hoang,Thank you for input on “Planet Stuff” will shoot a email to Amazon on this problem-Guess as bought so many Syma”s from RcFever and found all to be genuine I am happy to pay more money for postage from Hong Kong-as in Aussie postage expensive but products are genuine-Talk soon.
Please be careful using this, this has all the features of a reverse-polarity counterfeit:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1412191
not just a clone or fake, but one with potentially very serious electrical problems.
complain to amazon and make sure they take responsibility.
my RPC also came from planet stuff, llc. this has been reported to amazon.
Like the above, I purchased a FAKE Yellow S107G from Planet Stuff LLC on Amazon. As of today 7/29/11 Planet Stuff seems to have been removed as a seller. This page has great comparison pics of real and counterfit.
http://public.fotki.com/ritchiefamily/east_coast_family/syma-s107-comparison/
@Ruben Great photos well done-glad Planet Stuff is out of Amazon-I still buy a lot from Amazon and all have been ok-the worst fakes I got were from Ebay-really gave the seller a hard time and now he has gone-worth the effort to keep the market clean of fakes-clones on the other hand I have not had problems with
Ok, I tried the thing out. I’m not sure if it’s real or not. Things I’ve noticed:
-The red circuit board does not say “S107R5” anywhere on it.
-Red circuit board has red flashing light, not green or yellow.
-The box looks exactly like the authentic ones posted in this website. Includes “Syma” branding on box and heli itself etc.
-Main rotor holders are not metal, but also not black plastic. They are grey translucent plastic.
-The rotors do include appropriate small print text on them
-Motors are: black top with blue and red wires, and green top with black and white wires.
-Each end of tail rotor has one rounded corner and one corner which is more squared off (yet still slightly rounded).
-An annoying issue: After turning on the remote and the heli, it takes a while for the heli to start responding to any remote input. I had to play around with the throttle stick for a good couple minutes before the thing suddenly starting responding. Then suddenly it would start working and it would work ok until the battery was used up.
-The USB end of the USB cable looks totally different than in pictures of authentic ones I have seen online.
As for flying, it seems ok. Not incredible or anything, but it works ok. Turning seems very responsive, but forward and backward movement are a bit sluggish. Throttle is responsive and powerful though.
@Ben some of the things you have listed sounds like could be a clone or fake-does it shudder when flying, and everytime you fly it do you have the same problem binding to remote?
Remote looks genuine but the top colors of the motors as you said are wrong colour-I have not bought from “Planet Stuff” but if they are on Amazon you do have a return policy if
you are not happy with your purchase-keep us posted
@Syma Freak
I don’t think it really shudders when flying.
It does seem to have the issue with binding every time though. Although I just tried it and it didn’t have the binding problem (that was the first time it didn’t have the problem). I’m thinking it’s a fake or clone but a pretty darn close copy.
I found out how to contact the seller directly and got the courage up and asked them about it. I have not gotten a response, which makes me think it’s a very good fake.
I just flew it and my only real complaint is that every once in a while, when trying to do very precise flying, it becomes a little unruly. And its forward and backward movement is very weak (it’s almost as if it’s TOO stable at times. Like it keeps itself from leaning forward or backwards). Reports I have heard about the real Syma S107G is that it’s like a freakin rocket. This is responsive, but not so stable and definitely not fast in terms of forward and backward movement. And when trying to move forward or backward while turning, it does not handle well.
If the seller does not get back to me in the next couple days, I’m just going to contact amazon and have them ship me a return label. I want to have one that I’m 100% sure is real. It really pisses me off that we have to hunt around and do research just to find a legitimate and real Syma heli.
Alright, it arrived in the mail. Actually it came yesterday but I didn’t have time to open it up.
I took some pics. Sorry about the quality. My camera is currently being borrowed by a friend so I had to use a really crappy one that my brother was willing to lend me. I did my best with the lighting and whatnot (I’m no photographer. Sorry).
I made a public photobucket album so you guys could view the pics and check out the details if you are so inclined. I gave descriptions for some of the pics, so make sure to read them if you’re interested. Descriptions are viewable under the title of the pic under the pic itself.
Anyway, let me know what you guys think. Certain things seemed consistent with it being authentic, but certain things were kinda
weird.

Thanks,
Ben
@Ben got your photos ok-hard to say exactly but looks genuine-will enlarge photos for a better look
Hey guys. Found this website by chance. I was doing some research into toy-grade helis yesterday because I just decided I wanted one. That’s right, I’m an absolute newbie to R/C helicopters.
After 5 seconds of googling, I found some website that reviewed different R/C stuff (if you’re interested, the website is http://www.rcmania.com ) and the guy on the site wrote that he really loved the Syma S107G. So I decided to get that one. I scoured the internet and found the cheapest price. Got an S107 on amazon from a seller called “Planet Stuff, LLC” for $18.40 with free 2 day shipping (amazon prime FTW!).
Today I was still impatiently waiting for my heli to arrive and decided to do some more research on this model. That’s how I found this website. I read this whole page and all the posts. I’m worried that I may have gotten a clone or fake. I’d really like to get an authentic Syma even if the clones work ok.
So I decided to contact the seller on amazon. I tried to do that, but it seemed to just redirect me to a generic form for contacting amazon themselves. I figured I’d try that then. It gave me the option to do a live chat, so I went for it. Just finished chatting with the guy like 10 minutes ago. I explained my concerns and referenced this website to the guy. In the end, the guy basically just told me that amazon sellers are trustworthy. I wasn’t gonna give the guy a hard time and really try to dig for information. So I just humored him and accepted his words even though I remain skeptical after reading the posts here. Also, he assured me that I could return the item for free if it wasn’t authentic, so if worst comes to worst, I don’t lose anything.
Also, the guy said he would forward the issue to their inventory team. Maybe they’ll get to the bottom of this! At least on amazon. Regardless of how they work, non-authentics being advertised and sold as actual Syma is lying and dishonest and stealing (from Syma AND consumers).
If you’re interested, heres the chat log:
You are now connected to PRATEEK from Amazon.com.
Me:Question about item
PRATEEK :Hello, my name is Prateek. I’ll be happy to help you.
Me:Hi Prateek
PRATEEK :Hello Ben.
Me:so I was reading about this item I just ordered
its a toy helicopter made my a company called Syma
and supposedly there are a lot of fakes being sold. theyre not really made by Syma
PRATEEK : Can you give me the link of that item which you are looking for.
Me:and people online wrote that they ordered theirs from amazon and after inspecting, found that they were indeed not authentic Syma
ok
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004A8ZRB0
PRATEEK : Let me check.
Me:ok
it looks to be legitimate
but I checked a forum which is run by enthusiasts who really know a lot about these helicopters
and more than once person said they ordered from amazon and got fakes.
kind of worried me
PRATEEK :I do understand.
Let me check all the details.
Allow me a minute.
Me:alright thanks
if youre wondering, heres a link to the website that talked about the fakes: http://syma107.com/clones-and-fake-syma-s107/
one guys names an actual seller on amazon that sold him fakes
PRATEEK :Ben, I checked the product page as well the link which you gave me.The sellers on our website are trustworthy.
Me:ok
PRATEEK :If in case, You receive a fake item, you can contact us.
& we’ll provide you the return mailing label.
& you can return the item for full refund.
We’ll also forward the issue to our inventory team to check the details.
Me:ok great.
if you’re wondering, on this website, someone says he bought from amazon from a seller “Pro Ebiz LLC aka Pyrus Electronics” and got a clone, not a real Syma
PRATEEK : I’ll also leave the notes in your account about our conversation.
Me:ok
alright, thanks
PRATEEK :You’re welcome. Is there anything else I can do for you today?
Me:Nope. Thanks for the time
PRATEEK :Thanks for visiting Amazon.com. We hope to see you again soon!
Me:k thanks
PRATEEK :You have a great weekend!
Bye!
PRATEEK from Amazon.com has left the conversation.
Anyway, this website has been really useful to me! Thanks guys! I will definitely post an update once I receive my heli to let you know if it bears the signs of real or fake or clone or whatever.
I recently bought a s107 off Ebay from YESEVO, maryland. I received it today (3days later). It has two white motors, a red flashing circuit board and although the the frame around the charging port is square the actual charging port is round. Other than that it meets all the criteria for a real s107.
Was a little disappointed with the fact that when you take your finger off the throttle it crashes.
For 22 dollars it seems to be quite a bargain. Oh by the way it came in a plain white box.
@Smokeyft Hi,you can do a mod on the remote to take the spring out-here is a video post might help scroll down to view video
-if you do any mods -warranty is goodbye! Plain box worries me a bit-check out this post on fakes The charging point should
be square-but hey if flies ok you might be ok-Thanks for post SF
Well with about seven flights under it’s rotors the S107 is grounded. The motor spins, but the main rotors don’t. I have contacted the seller, YESEVO, and i wll let you know how it turns out.
i tried to subscribe to your forum but, it kept giving me a bad password.
@smokeylt will check forum to see what problem might be
Just bought a S107 from yesevo Sunday, on Ebay, and recieved it today. So far no problems. Both motors are white and although the area aound the charging port is square, the chargin port it self is round. Also came in a plain white box. Not sure if it is a clone, but so far it is performing very well.
Not quite as good as the one I saw at the store that could be
tapped with your hand while in flight with no effect.
Was a little disappointed with the fact that when you take your finger off the throttle it crashes. For $22 and free shipping I’m pretty impressed so far.
H! I just got a syma s107 from amazon (link at bottom) and the motor tops are both white. Is it a genuine? I found all the signs of a genuine s107 on my copter. Should I return it?
Thanks,
PDH
@PDH Hi, does it fly ok-I have a few clones not fakes that are ok-let me know SF
It flies fine but the tail prop broke off yesterday. Good thing there was an extra. Also the remote only has two channels.
@PDH Correct remote has mainly B or C on remote -heli is 3 channel-tail props do break when you crash if you do not take finger off throttle if crashing straight away
I’ve noticed that UJ Toys (http://www.ujtoys.com/) sells knock offs of the Syma models that are branded “Yiboo”. And their prices are outrageous when compared to the genuine Syma products being sold on Amazon and RC Fever. Can’t comment on their quality, but I would steer away from UJ Toys or any model branded Yiboo just on the price factor alone.
@ ocinsomniac Thank you for post comment-Helps us all get genuine Syma S107 helis
Just a heads up for people who come here and trust the information provided about Fakes. Careful.
I just got a Real blue Syma from London Drugs.
The blade holder is not black, the Gyro bar has rounded tips. The blades have the big WARNING on them. The two motors are black and white. The rotor is just as described.
It came on the real Black Box with Syma Logo and the helicopter is great no problems, flew flawlessly out of the box with minimal trimming adjustments.
My heli was purchased on London Drugs (londongrugs.com). Despite the name London Drugs is a trusted electronics and general products store in Canada.
i would recomend buying a spare balance bar because my first one i felw it and it crashed the dude that sold it sayed that the thing that breaks the most is main blades so i bought spares but no the balnce bar broke anyways superglue is a good option if u dont want to go to buy another bar
I was at my local flea market in Tampa, Florida. Well the had the box you have above that says s107 metal series. Well I bought one thinking it was the syma s107. Well I charged it up, turned it on and turned on the controller nothing happened. Then all of a sudden it shot up in the air and lost signal and fell back to the ground. It kept losing signal, would not fly straight or nothing. Then the little motor fell out and now it is broke. Only had it a few hours. The receipt says no refunds, wish I saw this before I bought. They will exchange it as long as it is not broken. I am out of luck and $40.
JOSE
@Jose Sorry to hear that-did you fly near a digital TV-as infra remote heli will drop out of the sky with any digital interference-buying from RcFever is cheap and genuine Symas-let me know how u go
No I did not fly near a digital tv. I have been on RcFever before. The prices are cheap but the shipping is killer. RcFever is not in the USA. They are in Hong Kong.
JOSE
I bought one of these S107’s from a stall at an airshow. He had sold out of all stock and was packing up. He sold me the S107 that he had on demo for $5. Unfortunately I think it might be a fake as the Wing brackets are made of metal, However the blades have the Warning as well as the rest of the writing. It has flown well until I crashed it and it broke the top Wing support on the shaft. I bought a replacement Inner shaft for it but due to it being a fake model the Inner shaft was not compatible 🙁
Have now ordered a new S107 and hopefully it is a genuine one that arrives.
@ Chris, could have been a clone, big difference any help required contact me-I have found RcFever sell genuine Symas, better than buying from Ebay for example
RC-Fever is indeed the real deal for Syma Products! There are several others also. I do suggest that you avoid E-Bay and Amazon.com. Too many products for sale at .01 cents and freight prices that are not believable! A product that wins an “auction” for a few pennies and then finds that the freight costs exceed the products resale value are being screwed!
It appears that these Internet stores have become little more than bogus “fronts” for off-shore fake products that are, at best, what the Chinese industrial complex sells as authentic products. They have become what Japan was 3 decades ago! Cheap knock-offs of legitimate products! While there are Chinese companies that do produce quality products at competitive prices too many are using China’s laws(or lack of) to make millionaires of unscrupulous individuals!
What is a major concern is that we aren’t facing fake toys… We have a major illicit trade in food, pharmaceuticals, and products that are not only dangerous, but often fatal to the world in general!! It is time to force our trade partners to abide by the laws of consumer safety.
get it from a seller on amazon named a-xheli
they sell the old 1 for 21$
I just bought an S107 from Amazon. I bought it new from the seller–SYMA!!! So, i’m pretty sure its not fake. I came in contact with Syma S107 a strange way… Burger king was making a commercial at my grandmas house–in Brazil… One of the guys there was flying a S107. He wanted me to try flying it. with previous experience with breaking RC, I said “Nah…”. He insisted, so, I tried it out and i was shocked on how stable and easy to fly it was! He told me the company, i went to symas site, searched through the helis till i found one that looked just like the dudes. I went to amazon to buy it, and their were TONS of 5 stars (518)! So i asked my dad to buy it (i’m 10…). I was lucky because there was an offer! THEY WERE SELLING IT FOR 21.75!!! (for a limited time only LOL) so i (my dad) bought it along with extra main rotor blades. There was also a “Order in the next 9 hours (it was about nine, i dont remember exactally) and get it tuesday 5” COOL. When i go back to san diego from brazil (in like 28 days) my heli will be there and i will film it and post it on my blog pixelsruletheworld.com! THANKS… weird…
@Thor hey dude, great post.Symas are awesome to start with, sorry for delay getting back, but I just get so many emails: Am always here to help you.Do not go crazy buying many or spares-start with your first one and remember battery care: Always wait 10-15 mins between flying before charging to let battery cool down, helps for longer battery life-hard to wait I know! battery post hereJust post on forum or contact me for any help-for a guy of 10 you write real well man-great stuff!!
Just bought some S107 Helis and the remote only allows me to choose 2 positions for the control address, is this normal?
@John,That is correct-either A-B but mostly B-C so you can bind two helis to one remote-Syma 107 review
Wow that was a fast reply. Cool, pretty deceiving that it shows A, B and C but no complaints here.
@John,I try to get back to people as quick as I can-thank you for your comments-keep them coming, helps other people learn more about the Syma helis-enjoy flying your bird!
Some of the fake syma S107 come in the correct boxes. Syma sells parts to lots of toy assembly companies. I have some fake and real S107G’s and the fake one has a better battery and better motors. It flys for almost 5 minutes. The real S107 only stays in the air for about 3 minutes. You probably have a fake S107 if it flys longer then 3 minutes.
I bought one from Amazon and received a clone.
I had a friend who owned a genuine fly my clone. He actually enjoyed the performance of my clone more than his genuine. Although, I get probably 4-5 minutes of constant flight out of mine, and it did not come with a USB charger as I had hoped. Cheezy looking remote as well.
@Alex Have to say you are the first person to let me know you bought a clone from Amazon-As posted on clones they are not like fakes-You should have got a USB charge cable-get in contact with seller or Amazon-It really gets me angry that sellers do not consider the buyer that will buy more products if service correct- I have now bought two more from RCFever without a remote or USB cable as have plenty-each heli was perfect. Any problems getting a USB Cable from Amazon seller let me know!!
Remote is budget looking but does the job-one has to consider the Syma S107 is a cheap heli-I have helis that have cost me $1000 -then you buy your own remote like a Futaba 6EX 2.4GHz 6CH Transmitter– then you are playing with the big guns.
Hi there from Miami! Thank you for taking the trouble to write all this up….very informative. I just read this article about helis from Slate.com which inspired me to buy one!
http://www.slate.com/id/2277914/
I just ordered an S107 from Amazon, from a seller called powertech.I hope it’s not fake! If so, i’ll let you know,
regards rod
@Rod Thank you for your comment-great to hear you have bought a Syma S107 they are just so much fun and easy to fly.You should be quiet safe buying from Amazon. Fakes seem to be sold more on Ebay-Amazon and if you buy with PayPal is great security. Let me know when you are up and flying-happy days!!
