Syma S107 Battery Problem
Syma S107 Battery Not Charging?
Why Change Your Syma S107 Battery?
Reference for this modification is from www.micro-helicopters.net
1. The battery is not holding its charge as long as it should do. The symptoms of this can be short flight time like only a minute or two and taking too long to charge before light goes out on USB charge connector. Can also cause Syma S107 to spin and not take off-Just not enough battery power.
2. You Might also want to get longer and better fly time compared to the stock Syma S107 battery she has fitted.
3: Most problems happen because you are hammering that poor old battery by re_charging without letting it cool down. It gets hot between flights and needs at least 10- 15 minutes cool down between charges-Otherwise guess it gets over charged and really bloats and screws the cells in simple terms-Follow This Tip! for battery life-buy two Syma S107 so one is always ready for flight and time to cool battery.- : Serious : Then you are always flying dude!!
Getting a Syma S107 Replacement Battery
Obviously, the safest approach is to insert a original replacement battery to ensure that all is as factory. To do this you'll need to find a battery with same specs as the Syma S107 original battery. Here is a site to buy a stock replacement battery. Here
If you want to get a longer fly time better than original Syma battery you will need to get a 5.6g 240mah battery. Bearing in mind this is a heavier battery, balance can then be a problem and some weight on the tail might be advised. Be careful going in this direction unless you know what you are doing.
Instructions below:
Red and Black wires-Cut with care
Use Liquid Electrical Tape-Easier
Insert New Battery
Attach canopy with two screws
Re -charge-if flight not good it will be a balance problem: Re adjust battery position: I attach the wires by electrical tape- But better still is to use Liquid Electrical Tape -you could use a plastic heat tube-to me to much work as many flights later the battery will die again. Make sure Main rotors lines up with the center of BLADES.

Bought one of your drones. Can’t figure out how to get it charged. The cables in the packet don’t fit so now it’s useless!!!! Send me a reminder please!!!
Did you buy via Amazon?Should be a yellow usb cable to charge heli with.If not I suggest you contact the company you bought from?
my syma 107 doesnt fly 3feet off the ground,,,pls help
how do you know if one of your motors are going bad. could this look like a bad battery and fly for 1or2 minutes and stop fly after that. It looks like one of my motors at one time would not spin as fast as the other (hard to see with naked eye) had to pull motor and check it out that way. could this be a problem staying airborne.
I’m having the same problem as several other people. I’ve probably flown my s107 20 times and now it doesn’t seem to fully charge any more. After charging the blades go round quite fast but it won’t take off. Seems to be a common problem. Any other suggestions?
courtesy email sent from M.Hatch with advice …The only suggestion I have is to stick your pinkyfinger on the bottom gear for the top rotors and hold it, if you can turn the top blades without the gear moving then there is one problem but doesn’t seem to totally fix it although will give you some flight time back. I have this problem with 1 out of 3 s107s.
I have had alot of problem replace battery and still wont fly mabey 20 sec. only help I can find is cool battery and change battery why cant i get power to run heli. both my choppers with this problem.
Take off canopy-check if battery swollen or leaking!
hallo,

(just purchased a S107 C, can’t wait to buy batteries….)
These days lots of phones, blue tooth headsets etc come with a a USB charger. These USB chargers plug into the power socket. Then a USB cable is connected to the charger at one end and the other end to the phone.
Can I use these USB chargers to charge S107? What should be specification on the USB charger to make sure that it does not destroy/burn the heli.
What is power output of a USB port of PCs, laptops etc ?
Following product shows, is this safe for S107G
http://www.rc-fever.com/usb-charger-us-plug-p-10517.html
Input: AC 110-220V 50/60Hz
Output: DC5.0-5.5V 1A
Thanks.
I would be VERY CAUTIOUS of trying to use a usb charging cable NOT specifically made for SYMA S107G. Here’s why:
1. The plug on your phone cable usb probably won’t match up with the charging port on the heli. Genuine SYMA plugs are rectangular, I’ve read of some clones being circular. Mess up those guide pins and it’s “over.”
2. Not really sure of the output on MY usb cable, but on my wall charger, it says DC 4.6v 500mA. Your info says 5.5v and 1A. That’s double the amperage, and I would think that’s NOT GOOD.
3. I would use ONLY GENUINE SYMA products. You can buy a usb or a wall charger through Amazon, and it will work on your Genuine SYMA. No sense “frying” your heli to save a couple of bucks. 🙂
Buy GENUINE SYMA…
Hi Carl, Thanks for the response. You are right only Syma USB cable should be used. Tweaking the phone’s USB cable will be tricky and could be disastrous. I did not intend to use the USB cable of the phone.
I just wanted to use the phone wall charger which has a USB port. Then plug in the SYMS USB cable into the charger.
* What is make/model of the USB charger you are using. If possible send a link.
* How much time does it take to charge using your USB charger?
I am wondering if higher volt & amp will reduce the charge time.
hmmm. Now I think I understand… OK, first I don’t use a usb wall charger station. My usb cable plugs into my laptop, then into heli-port. If you plan to use a usb wall-charging-station I would assume (HOPE!) that in your SYMA usb charging cable there is some kind of “limiting” circuit that regulates current to your heli? I’ve used my usb charging cable only 3 times with charge times being 55, 56, and 64 minutes (timed.) All other chargings have been with an AC wall charger plugging directly into SYMA heli-port, with charge times at about 32 minutes.
Increased volt & amp ratings MAY do more harm to your battery? The stock SYMA usb charging cable should work, though. When the RED light comes back on SOLID, you’re charged up fully.
make sure usb charger is 5V-0.7A if you use 2A you will damage the battery
Is anyone else keeping accurate records of charge-times, flight-times, cool-downs, etc? I’m finding that after 54 flights/charge cycles, I’ve lost about 2 minutes of averaged full-control flight time; down to 7.4 min over the last 15 flights, from 8.1 min during mid-20-flights, and 9.2 min during the first 19 flights. Using the wall charger exclusively, timing the flights and charge-times, using a minimum of 15-20 min cool-down after-charge-up, and at least an hour after flights.
Does anyone have info on optimum number of charge cycles for the stock battery? Is my info/stats about normal? Would appreciate anyone else’s flight-charge-battery experience.
Love the S107G, considering up-sizing to the SO32.
Thank you for this Advice man
I just received my S107 from Amazon. Charged it using the home ac charger. It flew great! Put it on the usb charger as instructed and all I get is a quick bump at the blades (less than a second) and the heli powers off. I also tried charging with the controller..same results. I don’t think it’s the battery. Here’s what i’ve got. A steady green on the heli and the controller, nice bright LED’s on the heli, and i’ve tested the controller LED’s with a camera. I’ve also compared it to the fakes and it seems to be real. It’s been used once gently. Any suggestions before I go thru the hassle of returning it? Thanks
Have you had any luck in getting this issue resolved? I have the same problem, except I bought mine through Groupon deal, I don’t think returning is an option for me. I’d like to fix it, and hope to able to fly again. If you learn of any way, please share.
Thanks.
I changed out the battery by cutting leads from old battery then splicing in leads from new battery; used electrician tape. Then the leads came off solder points – my luck. The reviewer who suggested the spice method told me which solder point to attach leads back to – red to the first solder point on the nearest left, looking in toward heli and the black lead to the last point on the furthermost right.
Charged up battery, pushed throttle. The top main rotor spun as it is supposed to but the bottom one barely rotated. Can’t say if the tail rotor spins all the time but it never did. I read one review that noted that the two main sets of rotors are supposed to turn in opposite directions. On mine both sets turn in the same direction – clockwise. Could this be because the battery leads which I re-soldered are reversed or does that have anything to even do with it? Thanks.
The reason I changed the battery was because the heli would not get more than a foot off the ground and seemed to have little power even then. One reviewer said that this could be an indication of a battery on its last leg.
If you want to have a little fun while waiting for your Syma to cool down before charging, I’ve found that I have almost as much fun “staging” my S107 as I do FLYING it!
Placing your copter in a dynamic pose and carefully aligning the blades can kill just enough time before you connect your USB charger – then do it all over again after connecting it!
As a side note, from someone experienced in battery care:
It is FAR MORE IMPORTANT to let the copter cool after FLYING than it is to let it cool after charging. Even five minutes can add many flights to your battery. Still, it’s best to have cooldowns after any activity with the battery, either charge or flight.
Someone please help! my helicopter is fully charged and when i go to fly it all it does is spins and stays in the same spot SOMEONE PLEASE HELP
There is a huge amount of info on this site take a look -join forum and explain-have you had a crash?
Could be TBA-explain the crashes you have had
I just got this S107 helicopter (brand new out of the box) for X-mas it worked fine once i took it out i got it up and everything but now it wont charge. the charger wires light is on but once i plug it in the light was still on i took it appart and everything and still nothing happened. What is wrong with my heli? i need help.
I don’t understand why you published the battery mod that uses E-flite 3.7v 150mah with a discharge rate or 12c ??? when the stock battery has a discharge rate of 20c. I bought three or those batteries and wondered why the copter was underpowered all of a sudden. Then I found out the stock one is 20c. Thanks a lot!
How much does the original battery weigh? I read a review on Amazon that someone hooked 2 of the originals in parallel and gets about 15 minutes of run time. And apparently they still fit side by side. I can’t find the weight of these guys anywhere though to compare that option with bigger batteries, etc.
I love the living tweedle out of this studly little heli; so much so in fact that I’ve purchased four of them and also soldered in replacement batteries in three just so that I could keep flying — I have also published at least 109 videos on YouTube of flights I’ve made (many are set to metal music which is not everybody’s cup of coffee — those videos are clearly marked as “NSFYE” {Not Safe For Your Ears} in the title so that you don’t get an unwanted earwhipping).
I haven’t performed any modifications to them yet; though I may well do so in the future.
sera posivel
We fullly chargerged our copter. When we turn the copter on red/white lights on front blink & solid green light on back . but i get no movement when i engage throttle.
AM i missing something ?
Did your remote sync up correctly to the heli?
Power up the copter and rest it on stable surface until the green light goes out. Power on your transmitter, pointed at the copter, until its light goes steady green, then apply power. If nothing happens, go full scale power, then draw back to zero, before applying power again. When under command, the green LED on the S107 should blink slowly.
If you still get nothing, your transmitter may have a problem.
To test your remote, point it at any camera and apply power. You should be able to, through the camera, see the LEDs in the top dome light or blink. (They’ll appear white.) If you don’t see this, your remote is bad …
*Correction to last post, until light goes steady, not out. x.x If you wait for it to go OUT, you’ll be there a while!
