Sounds like if the battery was bad in the first place, and the replaced battery has the same problem, to me anyway, it would seem to be that the replacement battery is a dud. A lot of places selling them don't mantain them, and they're duds when they send them out. Do you have a voltmeter/multimeter to check the voltage with? I'd make sure it wasn't just left sitting there in a warehouse and left for dead.

I am new the Syma but bought three, one for me and two for each of my kids.  I messed up the charging on one and the battery bulged.  The helo would turn on but spin at a lower RPM.  It would not take off or go into a hover.  All the gears and parts appeared undamaged.  After reading the forum, I realized I fried the battery so bought a new one.  So I cut the old one out and soldered the new battery.  After a 45 minute charge and the 15 minute cool down, the helo does the same thing: it turns on and everything spins properly, but it will not hover or takeoff.  It just spins at a lower RPM.  The tail rotor works normal, all gears are intact.  I charged via the USB cable on my computer.  Any ideas or suggestions on how to fix?  Should I try a third battery?  Thanks for any advice.
