I would ONLY buy helis off of amazon. I know SF has bought some off of other sites, and there are others out there that are good, but the safest route is just to go with amazon. As for the s107 being an outdoor heli, I would call it a limited outdoor heli. You need perfect days, NO wind, and preferably in the eavning right before it gets dark. (light enough to see, but dark enough the IR reciever isn't messed with.) Also, you must be looking at the wrong s107g, because they aren't smartphone controled. They sell a version that is controled with a smartphone, but almost all of the ones that they sell have a real remote.

I would however advise against using symatoystore.com. If you would read what SF and the other guys have said about them earlier in this thread, they aren't the right place to buy from.

If you're looking into an outdoor heli, then you can go with the s032, or Double Horse makes some nice outdoor helis for the same price. I personally stick to the indoor ones, since I don't really have the room for a 3 foot long good outdoor heli, but I've heard a lot of good things about some of their newer versions.

Just don't get the "colors vary" version because they're usually fakes.

What idea do you want about those models? I believe CPD answered your question about which is best for beginners.

I think you might need to browse http://www.symatoy.com/ a bit slower because there is more than one s107g there.

Amazon.com, get either the s107g or one s107g and onee military series heli. (s102, s108, s109, s111, and if you want an expensive one, s119g.)

I like the military helis (at least the 102) with the older s107 blades for nice, easy flight. Not fast in the least with the older, long s107 blades, but VERY easy to control.

@leadsled Hi,I have not bought from http://www.symahelicopters.com/ I feel they are ok ,however as said not bought from them so not sure products genuine.I buy massive amounts of products on line as a rc nutter, reason am in Australia and the model shops just can not compete with on line prices because our dollar is stronger than USA at present.

As I always recommend Amazon as first choice because you have buyer protection which is so much better than say Ebay..had huge problems buying fake helis from Ebay that never worked and drama to get my money back as seller vanished and then reopens in a different name...below my choices..

Amazon store front set up with sellers that are good..Click here

Focalprice free shipping have bought from them all good-bit slow sending as free shipping.

Lightake Free Shipping: bought a lot from them also.

Understand your concerns..also buy with Paypal not just your credit card as added buying protection..Ebay sellers were the only ones that dudded me on fake helis,I might have just been unlucky

Hope that helps SF Smile

I am always wary of ordering online, especially from sites outside of the US.

This site says it's the official distributor of Syma in North America.

http://www.symahelicopters.com/

My concern is there is no link from or to the main site (http://www.symatoys.com/).

Just trying to make sure the http://www.symahelicopters.com/ site is legitimate.  It looks good.

Ideally I'd like to buy in person from a store.  Cannot find any listing what stores carry them.

I have this model.  http://www.extremercbyrsi.com/.....me-s-3-5g/  It is a Syma S107G just marketed by Extreme RC.  It was bought at a 7-11 convenienced store.  Although I am pleased with it, there are two Syma models I want that Extreme doesn't yet have.  Those are the S107C and S800G.

Thanks.

lew803, thank you for email,I had not read your last post before reply to your email so now understand your mode 2 operation. Some thing sounds to me as a faulty gyro board, with the quads I have like the Blade MQX, Syma X1 they fly far enough away to be nearly out of site but react to remote ok.With my Wiltoy beetle quad the fine settings would go as soon as one rebooted remote for another flight.

I have, the Blade MQX is different as can bind to my DX7 Spektrum remote and holds all dual rates. It is a pain to keep setting rates when on a new flight with the Wiltoy, however with the Syma has not happened to me as yet--so couple of things..remote or gyro might have been faulty--or I am wondering if there already fakes out there..I need to look into the gyro board and compare..so will buy another to test and strip down my old one especially the remote as have not done that as yet-xjet did a good review on the Walkera Ladybird which I also have and discussed remote

This is how the Syma X1 should fly

To start out with-Originally one motor lagged. In spinning I could feel one point hesitation.Problem one motor was lower than the others.Next could not access Mode 2 which was soupposed to be there.Never did solve that one.Operational range was about 25'.That one solved itself .Found the black rotor motor housings were canted to the left  a few degrees(maybe a shipping problem damage).Fine tuning settings would not hold.Never figured that one out but never figured out why forward fine tuning never worked. At that point I was so frustrated that I wanted to send it back. That's when the original post started. In defense of the company, communication was not a strong point for either of us nor was the manual complete in all regards. In the end the x1 went in the trash and they refunded my money .I'm not frustrated now but I'm not flying a quad.Oh well,I have 4 other Syma helis to fly so off I go.Thanks for listening.

After all of the communication difficulties were solved I will say that they satisfied all of the complaints I had and concluded the situation to my complete satisfaction. Now I have to buy another x1.I'll be more discriminating the next time. That's why the reviewers are so helpful but you have to read them first.Keep up the good work, guys.

Purchased an X1 from them and after receiving it found that there were mechanical problems I could not fix.I filled out a return request and off it went. That's the beginning of no response. So I sent a second.Nothing.I have sent three personal inquiries dirctly to them.Nothing.Has anyone had any success returning items to them? Are they still in business?Cry
