What did you find with your tail rotor?  What fixed it?

It will tilt forward and move forward, the trim is for turning only, the tail motor only operates when you push the forward / reverse stick on the controller other than that it will hover.

The position of the prop doesn't seem to make a difference.

Once again, I'm not sure what "normal" movement of the helicopter should be.  Should you be able to see a forward "tilt" when going forward?  Mine is flat as can be.  Also, my remote tuning knob has to be adjusted quite a bit to the right to keep from spinning, can this affect the forward backward movement?  (ie. is the tail rotor ramped with remote input, or is it strictly an on/off motor?)

Hi and welcome, it could be that the prop is pushed to far down the spindal on the motor Laugh

Just got my Syma 107.  It flies up and down and turns great.  What it doesn't do is go forward and backwards.  The tail rotor does turn properly, but I'm guessing it is underpowered or something.  Am I overestimating the control of this helicopter, or is something actually not working properly?
