I got a new S107g and the throttle does not have the spring and it is smooth to use. I guess they have stoped using the spring, I didn't open the case but it has resistance and will stay where placed.

This is interesting-think some old models in stock get sent with the spring,new ones different-just sent email to the Syma company to find out what they are doing with remotes--will post feed back
